Team 10 Thread

It was 45 deg when I walked out of camp this morning. I had the idea to setup on a trail through some thicker stuff that was covered in big rubs last year. Its still pretty thick, I'm set up about 15 ft up to be able to see/shoot under it. Around 9:00 I had deer both north and south of me inside of 30yds at the same time. Only saw a set of legs to the north but heard what sounded like an antler on tree in the stuff to the south. Gonna give this another half hour or so and scout my way back to camp.

Congratulations on the successful hunt
Good luck to all the hunts starting today
I was hopeful to go out tonight but this is what my bow did during my shot yesterday

So hopefully I can get it back into operation quick

I'm getting my stuff prepped for the season opener tomorrow morning, got a cold front in, so weather is great here in VA. Went yesterday evening to scout behind my house, saw a young 6 point. Got a pack of Coyotes that have set up residence on my property that are gonna catch a nap if they walk by.

I'll be out for a dark to dark tomorrow but will more than likely have to sit out Sunday or maybe a half day if I'm lucky

Yea I have a backup but it’s not ready either
I got it unlocked
Now trying to move the cams over
It looks like when I shimmed them I had it to far to the right and it allowed it to jump past the cable stops

Skunked on the morning hunt. Gotta do some work around the house and be back out this evening. Anyone seeing anything?

Skunked on my evening hunt as well. Didn’t see one deer. Super hot and humid right before a big storm front. I kinda knew better but I had the afternoon off and had to try. Anyone else have better luck?

Hunted on the ground this morning. There was another hunter sitting right off the road and I walked by...he didn't say or do anything. Made it back into an area that looked good from the aerial photos. Tethered in on the ground but didn't see anything but these old stands...I assume from when it was private?....that tripod is huge and there's no way somebody carried it all that wayScreenshot_20211002-130338_(1).pngScreenshot_20211002-130346_(1).png

Picked a good looking tree and timed the walk out so I would know for the evening....on the driveable road a truck pulls up along side me and the guy tells me how I messed up his morning...I apologized and he sped off.
So, I moved to a new area. There was no tire tracks or boot tracks so i took a little nap and after that I went in... The trail was a big loop around a creek with some open looking areas at the end of the loop. Only thing is the loop is like 3 miles and it's balls hot. I walked the creek until I found a suitable log to cross and made the 3 miles in 30 minutes. In the open areas I found pig root from either last night or that morning...I think i just missed them because they mosquitoes were buzzing all around in the sand. It was torn up like this under all the oaksScreenshot_20211002-130245_(1).png

I found and followed a good rub line until the high ground formed a.little finger going out into a low swampy area... I found a good pinch point and set up. Screenshot_20211002-130233_(1).pngScreenshot_20211002-130223_(1).pngScreenshot_20211002-130214_(1).pngScreenshot_20211002-130202_(1).png
Total of 5 does seen with 2 at 47....if they would have got to 30 I was gonna let the have it...I tired of letting does pass. I had 1watch me coming down the tree in the dark and it blew the entire time maybe 50-75yds away.... annoying

I had this guy at 20 but I decided to let him walk......he needs another 20years

I'm pretty whipped. I highly doubt I will get to go again tomorrow.... The half days suck but gotta do it...next season should be back to normal I hope

Besides the heat/humidity, mosquitoes, and yellow flys it was a great day in the woods...I was so close

Had a slow morning, didn't see a deer. This afternoon hunted a little piece of private that holds quality bucks year after year. Setup on the backside of a saddle ridge leading to a spring in heavy laurel cover. Lots of fresh rubs and scrapes. Long story short, 10 min of shooting light left, a heavy horned typical 8pt comes up the trail I'm setup on. He stepped out at 15 yards, quartering to me and closing the gap quick. No time to wait I drew back, he saw my movement and picked his head up. I made the mistake of looking at his rack. Let one fly and pulled the shot left, clean miss. Got my adrenaline pumping, and his too I'm sure. He didn't spook too bad but ran back into the thicket. Gotta let that spot cool down for a bit.
