Team 10

I think in general they like to walk dry creek beds. Gives them an easy path that is often surrounded by cover and browse.
Funny you say this. Spot I hunted earlier this week was near a dry creek bed. Still soft. Tons of prints. Leads to a larger marsh area that has good duck habitat, so it will be useless for me when duck season opens Oct 9. Those duck hunters love to spoil my spots. :(

Yea... I've had to dodge pellets a few times myself..

Duck hunting is usually early morning and late evening, right? maybe throw up a camera and see if the deer have moved to a mid-day schedule to avoid them or throw a mid-day hunt at the spot. I've had squirrel hunters come through the woods blasting away and had deer come out 45 minute later. It's like the deer knew to hunker down and let them pass.

Got a front coming in tonight and the temps supposed to drop about 30 degrees by sunrise. I'll be sitting in the same tree where I shot my 8 pointer on September 26th. Should be back to normal by now and the wind will be perfect. That's where I got the giant on camera twice last month.
If I don't tag out in the morning I'll be out in the afternoon hunting the same piece of woods but about 400 yards further in watching an isolated oak where I got a video of him 2 years ago. Only hunted that tree once last year because the deer just weren't there last year as we had no acorns. This year we do.

Good luck to those of you making it out this weekend. I have to work tomorrow and will after the one I saw last Sunday. However I won't be of any contribution to the cause because I'm carrying the climber in after him.

I used my full hand climber combo a couple times this wk.

I face the tree and saddle hunt from the full size platform

I can use the seat as a pillow, shelf or shooting rest when muzz or gun hunting

OK I got another one down and in the freezer! I killed a deer here last year with the exact same wind, only I saw about 10 deer 3 bucks that day. It was hard not to go out there today knowing that. It was a really awesome sit. I ain’t seen no bucks yet lol One might have been a buck today, it was a deer for sure, just couldn’t see its head hiding in the thicket 20 yards behind me.

I had 4 different lights going trying to get it all in for the three different contests I am in with different rules for me, tag for my Michigan contest, me for another contest requirement, bow, FULL deer in another, and of course Saddle! LOL

Been at it since dark this morning. Beautiful day but very breezy. Climbed a tree in an area where some does walked beneath me least year. Realized come daylight I had only one shooting lane about 15 yards long. So I moved on. Started heading to an area I’d scouted this spring and found sign. Bumped three, mostly spikes, in a meadow really close to where I was intending to go. They ran left, I went right about 100 yards due to wind direction. Can’t shoot spikes because of antler restrictions but hoping some others wander in.

Feels like a long day. Definitely noticing hip pinch and leg fatigue, never did a dark to dark sit before. Hoping to grind it out until end of shooting time. Maybe there’ll be some movement near dusk.

Good luck. Be sure to grind it out, you'll be happy you did! The best time is the last hour of the day. My deer all showed up at sundown yesterday. My days of 2 hours before sunup TILL dark are gone! Mostly used to do those sits because I had to travel 2 hours to hunt, just wanted to get the most out of the trip. Now I live minutes from where I hunt!
