Those heads look awesome! Never tried the lansky but looks good. Honestly my worksharp guided field sharpener sharpens just about anything I need minus the kudus but I do use it for the ceramic rod and strop with kudus. Plus its like $20 and fits in your pack. Might be a cheap alternative, that or just a varying and paper pack from rough to polishing grits works great for straight edges.

Yeah they are nice for sure. I ha e a pocket diamond sharpener but I guess I just need to buy some sacrificial heads for the cause lol and see how I do.

Well ended up getting sick, real sick....... real sick of being at work instead of in the tree. So I played hookie today, I'm currently the first one in the parking lot! Which means I should have my pick of where to go this am, I know of a steep hill side oak stand that gets hit this time of year pretty heavily. I havent been to this area since I shot a buck here last years opening morning. I'm gonna finish getting things together in the truck here and start the walk in! Have a great day fellas, I know I will!

I got some edge broadheads from Australia and played with them. I think they were $30 and come butter knife sharp so you get to really practice putting and edge on them

Nothing cures a case of “whitetail flu” better then a good sit in an oak stand. Good luck!

Well got skunked on two separate spots yesterday... first spot was probably just one of those days where nothing came in, it happens. second spot was an area that typically holds deer, however, I've only hunted late October or November. So my thoughts on that are that they may not be utilizing that area until they get pressured, as it is pretty difficult to access despite being relatively close to the access. I had a good wind for both sits and i learned some things so it wasn't too bad of a day.
Side note: I know that "hotspots" can change from year to year, but this year it really seems strange out there. All of the spots I have hit this year have seemingly dried up.... I cant really explain why, as this is absolutely a masting year, with all of the oaks around are dropping heavily. I suppose this could be one of the issues, as there is food everywhere instead of concentrating them food to certain trees. I am hopping things pick up in the coming weeks as the pre rut gets up and moving.....

No hunting for me today we have a band concert tonight. But I did get my wife and kids ladder stand set up and prepped bolts behind it so I can hang behind them and watch/film them...I’m off the next 6 days so hoping to get us some points..

Good luck this weekend fellas! Prayin for ya if you are in the path of the hurricane.

Went Friday before the rain came in. Nothin. Did find some oaks dropping next to a creek and swamp.

Had a perfect wind to slip into a bedding area for an afternoon sit. All the parking lots were packed with hikers because of the perfect fall weather and peak colors. I was headed pretty far from the lot so wasn’t concerned about all the recreation folks. Wind stayed true but I got skunked.

Well, my wife let me go out yesterday morning. So I made my way to a familiar spot on public in WV not far from home. I got in nice and early. It was one of those morning that you just felt like youd see deer moving, overcast, damp, lightly misting, my ideal co editions for the woods!. Anyway around 750 ish, I catch my first movement, 3 does work through @ 25, I let them walk as it's still early in the day and this spot has been known to have day walkers this early in October. Not 2 minutes go by 8 more doe pile through through, silently, ninja like. At 8 o'clock, I hear a tight snap, I think "ok, this what they do, the big guys let the does roll through, test the waters. This is a buck I'm gonna have a chip shot".....
Nope, another doe, a big fat one. I thought well I've already seen 11, how many more deer will be coming through, so I let her work in to 20 yards and whack, I watch my arrow blow through her perfect. Then it happens, it sounds like a tree falling, as he runs back the direction he came from.... the same 10 point I saw earlier in the season, and he wasnt 30 yards behind the doe I just shot. Once I decided I was gonna take her, i must had been focused to the point i didnt notice him walking in, he would have passed me @ 20 yards. Here's the kicker, I never took a picture of the deer with me and my saddle in it.......

So I'm heading back out here in 30 minutes or so to try again to put point on the board.....
Hope yall are doing well, be safe, hunt often!

Dang that sucks about the buck but congrats on the doe! Who cares about the points, I just want us all to get some venison in the freezer and learn something this season!

Hunting the corner of a 70 acre corn field that connects to two bedding areas on no hunting tracts lots of sign hoping to see some action tonight. First sit on this farm this year. Dad and uncle have the combine going taking beans off plan to head over there one night this week with a buddy and take a couple does.

That’s a tough one. I hope my “why not shoot a doe” question didn’t factor into your decision to shoot her. I concur about the “who cares about the points” comment. Enjoying the hunt and learning something each sit is all that matters.

Cool looking spot. The fall colors sure do help make it a great sit.
