Team 3 - Official Team Thread

Hunted morning and evening Friday. Saw nothing in the morning except a couple other hunters on the walk out. Evening hunt had a button buck walk into my scent stream. Interesting watching him react to that, encounter ended with him high-tailing it away at full speed.

Headed to a different SE MI public spot in the morning.

Punched a Michigan public land doe tag from the saddle this evening. Didn’t think to snap any hero pics in the saddle though :(

Sat yesterday morning until 12:00 on my property. Saw 8 does throughout the morning doing exactly the opposite of what I expected them to do and what their travel patterns have been historically. Also, got to pull a few cameras that have been out since early September that confirmed the buck in the picture above is coming and going in a similar pattern to the does. I'm assuming that my neighbors is one of the few properties in the area with acorns which is why the deer are coming from there in the mornings. It's always a good hunt when you learn something new on the property you have been hunting 10+ years.

I'll be at our camp that borders public Friday through Sunday this coming weekend. Anyone else been out recently?

Just a short evening hunt when the cold front moved in last week. Had a couple does creep in out of the corn right as I was setting up and I had to stand on my stick for about 20 minutes before they fed off. Double step stick definitely made it bearable. Couldn't imagine trying that on a LW or single step stick.

Last Sat on the public piece I hunt most, it was loaded with hunters. Never found anything to set up on so I did a lot survey Sat evening, 90% full. Hunted Tues, got rained on, didnt see squat. This morning had to stand on my brakes twice on drive out. Had 3 doe cruise by at first grey light, never had shot opportunity. Was hoping to punch the doe tag. Little fella cruised by at 8:30, had #2 pencils sticking out his head. Flock of turks too. Back at it in a few hours...

It's been raining for the last 36 hours, just stopped a little while ago. Plus we've got a 20+ degree temp drop tonight from lows yesterday. I'll be hunting this evening and most of the day tomorrow and Sunday. Deer should be on their feet.

Getting out this evening. It’s been a struggle the last few years to put much effort into it. My wife and I have 2.5 year old twins.

I am planning on hunting some hardwoods that I know deer bed down in and move through. Going to try and sneak in the middle of the day and get set up. I usually hunt mornings more so evening hunts are a bit of a mystery to me. Hopefully they are really starting to scent check and chase a bit.

Trying to decide between hardwoods and field edges tonight. Any thoughts. North winds, fairly calm. High temps is 50’s.

If standing crop... field edge, or just inside the timber 20-30 yards on travel routes.

Otherwise hardwoods and downwind side of the best bedding area. Lots of cruising on here in Michigan. Ruts on boys.

Well I have been hunting since September. Work has kept me too busy. But I leave to head back to Kentucky nov 17-22.
