Team 5 Thread

Haven’t posted much because I was taking a small break. Then of course I now have Covid!!! Hoping to break out here soon! I have 30 day managed hunt coming up starting December 15th so looking forward to putting some more points up! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Keep plugging away!!

Nice work guys.

I’ve been quiet haven’t been out too much past week and when I have the woods have been quiet, short of a few that didn’t present a shot.

oh and I was cutting a fallen tree yesterday and deer are bedding right behind my shed . Its a mockery

I went out today with a friend, hoping to help him get a buck and to fill my doe tag. We had a lot of rain last night and so the still hunting conditions were ideal. This buck cruised my way and I couldn’t pass up the slam dunk 60 yard shot. Of course it’s a little bittersweet to give up my pursuit of lawn boy. But this buck was quite nice and I’d be a fool to pass on what was right there in front of me.

The point of impact / first blood was very promising. But because the shot was a little high the blood trail was minimal and quite slow and agonizing, particularly considering that it started raining just after I made the shot. But I love following a blood trail, even a faint one.

I’m sorry to say that this one isn’t scorable for the contest. No saddles were involved.

Anyone out there???
Here, just in the time bow is closed in Iowa for shotgun season. I’ll have a little time left, bout 3 weeks, of general bow. Think I have another week in an urban zone too. With a month to go I am not picky about what fills any tag I have. No PTO left that I know of so it’ll be weekends only now and working around family events.

I’m still chasing a 10 that’s behind my house. Had an encounter with him 2 weeks ago on a hot doe. I get pics nearly every night, and makes multiple visits a couple hours apart some nights to corn. He’ll be a really good deer next year if he makes it….and if I don’t see it during shooting light.

They were still fighting last weekend in Iowa. Never seen them battle this late that I can remember. Took me 15-20 seconds to figure out what it even was, just unexpected.

Last place fellas????? Let’s get some does on the ground here or something, can’t be LAST!!!

Totally agree! I have 2 does already. Trying to upgrade with a good buck with my management hunt coming up!

Keep at it! If that’s what you enjoy the reward will be worth it!
I like whatever works best - which is different every day. Last year I was dedicated to hunting from the saddle - just to earn points for the team. And while it did work out it wasn’t a sound approach.

Speed scouted a spot where I bumped a buck duck hunting a few weeks ago midday yesterday, and hunted it this morning. Didn’t see squat, but there was a brand new scrape opened up about 15 yards from my tree. Happened sometime between midday yesterday and this morning. Glad to know there’s still a buck doing his thing in there after the chaos of duck season!
