Team 5 Thread

Love it! We are already on the board. Heck of a way to start. I hope to pull my weight this season. I plan to be out a lot early season covering a lot of ground in search of hot feed sign. I also have some prime spots for pre rut and rut lined out for this fall. I start October 1st.

Good luck to everyone and let's put some meat on the ground this fall!

Ok guys I know a good handful of you. But where are you hunting at & what plans/ goals do you have for the season?
I’m in central Maryland , south of the PA line by 30mins. We have a long liberal season, almost unlimited does in the neighboring county. I’m holding out for a buck ( not a specific one) that when I see him I get fired up. There are a few around! My wife ribs me mercilessly if I don’t meet her quota of 5-6 deer. So hopefully get another doe before early ML in late October. The week after that I’m going on a trip with a buddy to Va for a long weekend. Then hard at it here for the rut. Going to hunt again later November in VA. That’s my plan…. Really trying to shoot a deer with a recurve this year but not fully in on that as my primary weapon of choice. So I’ve been super close to being on the winning team 3 times & it basically comes down to whether or not everyone connects…… don’t get me wrong 2-3 nice bucks helps, but everyone on the board is a huuuuge advantage.

I'm in Mississippi. I hunt public land and although we have low deer density, I plan to get out and chase them down where they are and not wait around for them to come to me. I'd like to stack them deep this year, lol.

Also MD. Live right by DC but hunt slightly north of there, Can't guarantee big bucks because I did zero scouting this summer, but I've got some spots that have been ok to me in the past and I should (knock on wood) be able to shoot 2 does minimum.

I'm a shoot the first deer that walks by hunter for the most part, season is open but I haven't made it out with the bow yet. Likely the 27/28th will be my first days out

I typically hunt in West GA where I live. I also have land in East AL that I hunt later in the yr. Last but not least I take a trip to North Eastern KS every yr the week of Halloween. My goal for the yr is to enjoy myself, kill a couple of bucks, and fill the freezer with does.

Let's Go Boys!!!

Like Horn also from Michigan on the East side of the state. Hunt some private farm ground around home, target rich environment lots of does and few decent buck sprinkled in. Looking to shoot a couple does to knock the rust off before our annual rut hunt in southern ohio on public land, which will be the 1st week of November.

I have 2 weeks off in October and a week off in November, so no excuses not to get out. Also, have opening day of gun season off here in Michigan.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's hunting stories and reports

Jerry here from Northwest Indiana. I freezer hunt mostly archery, 50/50 private/public. I start out thinking I'm going to be picky on a rack, but usually try and throw down whatever I can. Pumped for season to start. October 1st, mostly be weekending, not many vacation days left. Team looks really fun. I love that we have this contest, really get to know guys from all over! Good luck and stay safe!

I too am from central MD. I have 2 joining properties for private (I'll be there for ML & FA seasons). Going to try to set some preset there and then stay out until those seasons arrive. Am going to focus on Public around here for archery. Trying to get out but obligations haven't eased up yet so I haven't been out yet.

I went out yesterday evening, saw 16 deer total 9 does/fawns, and 7 bucks. One of the bucks made me think about picking up my bow, but I gave him a pass in the end. I can’t hunt tonight, I have a Bday party to go too. I’m sure I’ll be out Saturday am. Good luck to those who can hunt this weekend!

Hey fellas, I'm from southcentral PA and hunt mostly public around here, and a private farm 2.5 hours from here. The public gets hammered but I can find some in pockets in archery season. The private I lease with some friends, and while there are plenty of deer, if they are all hunting it a few weekends before I get there, the success rate drops drastically. I also take a trip to GWNF in VA every year the second week of November for a backpack ML hunt. It's probably my favorite hunt of the year.
Season starts October 1st but I'll be in Yosemite for our 10th anniversary. We have 3 kids under 8 and limited time, so my goal this season is to be efficient and connect early; I won't be too picky this year. I'm excited to hear everyone's experiences. Let's get after them!

I have 2 kids one just got married & is 2 years out of college & the youngest is a junior in college. Soak it up man! Be a good Dad & husband & you’ll have more time to hunt than you know what to do with later on. I like your game plan pick a hunt or two to be away & just pick & choose around weather & activities around home. Always easier on the Mrs & schedule if you hunt mornings & are home before lunch…. Rather than skip dinner & bedtime…… I’m sure you got all that down!

Yeah, we have a good squad this year. I will probably not get an out of state hunt this year. Exclusively here in Virginia. Which is fine. I’ve got 3 pretty decent bucks on 3 different pieces of private. My primary goal is to not shoot a small 2 year old in early October. I’ve done it the last 3 years and regretted burning that tag. I just get so hyped up and after watching one feed at 15 yards for 20 minutes I lose all self control.

Good luck to you all. Let’s put it on’em!

I woke up at 5:45 the past 2 mornings, and went back to sleep. I’m still trying to recover from my CO elk hunt. I’ll probably head out this evening.
