Team 6 Thread

Hey guys let two small bucks pass this morning. All I saw were those two bucks. One was a scraggly racked bully looking buck definetly a 2.5 year old but his neck was swollen pretty good he came by around 8 am The other was a little forky that started moving after the rain stopped around 9 or so. Nothing else today besides turkeys.

I was out Saturday morning. Had a doe come to 18 yards but was quartered too and didn't offer a shot. Of course 2 bucks came by at 20 and 25 perfectly broadside after her but I need to get a doe down first. Then to add insult to injury a buck chases a doe by at 10 yards as I'm halfway down the tree. Can't catch a break yet this year. I'll be at it again Friday.

Hunted with my dad tonight. Had a small half rack 4 point on on side walk under me. He saw a spike, smaller buck and the big 8 point we are after come out about 100 yards right at dark. I am taking Thursday off work to pull an all day hunt. This week should be good around here.

Well they were running today. Hang and hunt public land basket racked 8 at a creek crossing. 13 points for team 6. Not my target buck but it was fun going in on state land and hunting this piece for the first time. I scouted it one day last October and found this creek crossing. There were legacy rubs on both sides and beaten down trails as the terrain slope softens at this spot. Natural funnel. A little something or other maybe a three or a forky went through first around 3pm then this young buck was following him about 30 seconds later. 5 yard shot almost straight down. I'm pretty sure it went right through his shoulder but I didn't hear much of a pop. The broadhead exited the other side (you can see the exit on the deer's right side pretty low. He bled a lot. I watched him expire he laid down and bled out about 40 yards away. The VPA 150 did its job. The arrow broke close to the hit site. I have one more buck tag for firearms season here in NY.

Nice buck @woodsdog2! Congrats!

My dad just let me know that “the big one” just walked under my stand this morning chasing a few dough and went back in the woods. Too bad I am working this morning. Hopefully he comes back next time I am in there.

Way to go!!!

Need some advice: I pulled an all day sit yesterday for the first time in the saddle. I am waiting on my new ewo UP to ship to me and sold my platform to pay for it (big mistake) so I spend the day on just my one stick without a platform. My feet ached by the end of the day and I fidgeted all day up there. I saw deer, only one shooter but only for a split second as he was chasing a doe right at dark.
I will be out this evening and then again all day tomorrow. I do not have a good high traffic spot to hunt unfortunately... I am hunting the edge of all the action on property I have permission to hunt and spend the day watching deer run the property I can’t hunt. Any suggests to get them to head my way? I have two hot areas to the right and left at 100 yards. I went as far as walking into where I can’t hunt and doing a drag line back to my stand, I grunt and bleat and pray a lot while I watch these deer run at 100 yards to both sides of me.

picture 7 acres hunting the corner and 80 acres of farm field to the left, 100 acres woods to my front and 150 acres woods/100 acres fields to my right. I have seen 20+ deer every sit to my left and 30+ to my right in those fields at the same time every evening so I know I am surrounded by tons of deer. Can’t seem to get them to wander into my little 7 acre area I am sitting. Any suggestions?
