Original kestrel slightly modded. 9mm Sterling htp tether and lineman's belt with a ropeman 2 on each and metolius brave screw lock carabiners.
My tried and true golden buck steps or squirrel steps with the boat buckle.
7 wild edge stepps with a knaider only.
2 hme hooks on a strap for my pack, custom 3d printed bow holder I made.
Mystery ranch popup 28.
Been running that setup for a while now. I probably picked up my first golden bucks in 2016. Kestrel was in 2017 and have made just a few mods along the way (although I have stocked up and have 4 kestrels to make sure they last my hunting career
). Sterling htp probably came in around 2018 after I switched from ultratech because its stiffer. Stepps came in 2017 but I used them with my red squirrel aider that first year, I believe the knaider came in in 2018 and that was one of the most actual game changing things in my system ever. I've been using the hme hooks for my pack basically since I would go mobile in 2013-2014. I had a bow holder I made with a screw in accessory holder and plastidip that I used for a long time with my mathews dxt but when I first picked up a split limb bow I had to start making a new one since it didn't fit anymore. I ran cut down hawk heliums for a couple years. Before that lone wolfs. I loved the new tribe evolution and used that until the kestrel came out. Before that I used a trophyline ambush for probably 5 or 6 years and the neoprene model for a couple years until I could get my hands on a medium ambush saddle. Along the way I tried pretty much everything until the saddle boom. I've tried a few of the newer saddles but I don't like anything as good as my kestrel. Once in a while I will try sticks again before I convince myself that I still hate them. I've been using the mystery ranch popup 28 since it came out, that was another big game changer for me for carrying my stepps, it's like they're not even there. Anyways that was quite a trip down memory lane, thanks
@onestringer!
I was remensincing about my bucks the other day but now I'm thinking about the saddles and gear I used to kill them and how they've evolved. And that reminds me, I can't forget to mention that I hunted a lot off preset trees with screw in steps. I'm much more of a nomad now but its still nice to go hit one of those trees up once in a while.
That post got long quick!
