Team 7 Thread

I did something today I have been trying to do for a few years. Missouri seasons runs 9/15 to 1/15. I have been trying to kill a deer every month of season. Killed deer in 4 months many times, but always missed Sept or Jan. One year somehow I missed November. Probably because I was looking for good antlers. Tonight I sealed the deal on a January doe. I am super pumped. I finally did it. Killed a deer every month of the season this year.

Congrats! I had that same goal and accomplished it a couple years ago. My next one up is fill my buck tag in all 3 of our bow seasons!

Saw 3 bucks last night at 50 yards. I thought they were going to come right down the trail to me but they just milled around feeding and went back the way they came. Nothing huge but 2 of them I would have shot for a late season buck. I sat in the cold this morning for what might have been my coldest hunt ever (and saw nothing). It said 9 when I left the truck but real feel was -8. I've been in single digits before but it was windy today! I'm heading back out for the afternoon sit shortly and I'm going to see if I can't sneak in closer to where those bucks were last night since they're around there.

I'll be out for an afternoon sit, as well! I'm not worried about seeing deer, but I do need something legal!

Gotta take the wife out for a birthday dinner tonight and had other stuff going on yesterday so no hunting for me this weekend. Season closes for me on January 31st so hope to get a couple more sits in yet.

I had it to do and I screwed it! Monday, the last day of the season, I had a 2.5-3.5yr old 8-point come through at 4:30pm. I had a very slightly quartering-to steep-angle shot at 9 yds. (that shot should be a gimme)... He completely ducked the string and I gave him a literal haircut across the top of the opposite shoulder. I completely underestimated the nerves and reaction time of the late season deer. All season for this, dang it! Sorry guys, I'm done until next season...
