Finished this up and hunted a couple times out of it over the weekend. It didn’t fall apart with me in it…….that’s a plus. Hanging tonight in a cordura model of the same design. I am just a cordura man I guess. To each is own. Some guys like boobs some guys like butts.

I had pipe dreams of making a saddle but my wife has forbidden me to go anywhere near her sewing machine. I kinda messed it up last time I used it.

I'm sure he didn't know it was a bedding area. He was from out of state and had never been there before. He just wasn't giving me the wide berth he said he was going to.

I can’t find a decent buck. All does and small bucks. Don’t worry I am not above smacking a small buck. Have a couple more weeks before I have 2 buck tags in my pocket. Once that happens. I will send it on a small buck.

Cox North and I’m a respiratory therapist. I worked at the south hospital for close to 10 years. Worked peds, neonatal ICU, and all of the adults critical care units. I transferred to North about seven years ago and mainly work in the ER. It was time to slow down a little!

I’ve got a small one that I’ve seen several times. I walked up on him making a rub and he totally ignored me. He watched me lower my bow down on an evening hunt, and almost let me pee on him one morning from my climber. His blatant disregard for his own safety has led me to believe he needs to be shot!
 
Used my buck tag on a small buck last Sunday because I haven’t seen anything for decent bucks. Checked my cameras again yesterday and got this. After looking at on the big screen I’m thinking it’s the same buck. The daylight photo has some shadows that mess with the pic. Natural selection at work there.
 
I bumped 2 on the way in this morning in the dark. Sat until 9:30 without any other action so got down to do some scouting. This same bedding area is where I killed my bucks the last 2 years this same weekend. I was underwhelmed by the almost non-existent buck sign in the area this year. I still feel it is a solid doe bedding area so not giving up on it yet. I have a cell cam in there now so I guess we will see what story that tells in the coming days.

On the way back to the truck, I scouted through the area where I bumped the first deer (maybe 1/4 mile closer to the parking) and that area was tore up with rubs. Also found a couple scrapes. The interesting thing is a walking trail zigzags through this area of the property and it is heavily used by hikers. This pic was one of the better rubs. Based on height up the tree (over waist high on an uphill slope) this tells me a decent buck is in the area. So interesting how sometimes they tuck themselves into a little pocket surrounded by human activity.

Would you guess this sign is mainly being laid down at night? I feel like it would be worth a couple sits but feels a little odd to watch hikers go by all morning while I’m hunting. The terrain makes the wind pretty janky in this area so it is going to take some trial and error to figure out how to kill this thing.

If you worked in the NICU at South. You must know Brenda Garrett maybe Coombes when you were there. That’s my Aunt Ninnie.
