I wont hit rut down in south Alabama until late January. Im jonesing something fierce 1500 miles away until then and need to live vicariously through here. I know we have at least a couple midwesterners here with pics of great bucks that hopefully will be showing up wearing a saddle here soon before they wander too far. I should be getting ready to head to Indiana right now but couldn't pull it off this year. I am making a quick trip to Bay St Louis, MS in December so if anybody has a spot for me to climb for a day let me know. Its more of a social trip to see family but I could probably slip away for a day.
Same here. Managed to slide over to Perdido River the day after bow season opened and haven’t been back out since. May try to go back during ML week. Going up to Black Warrior in 10 days to scout a little before the 2nd early gun weekend. Waiting on MLK day for my rut-cation.
Prime time up here right now. I'm off this week. About to get the kids ready and head out to my favorite rut tree now. I'll spend 2 days in that tree and then I have a 4 day muzzleloader hunt where I got one of my 10s last year that I can hunt the first 3 days of. Unfortunately we're looking at temps close to 80 for the next few days.
Sounds like you're fittin' to add some points. Im sure you know but with the warm temps make sure to sit through last shooting light. Think about squeezing a little tighter to bedding on that muzzle hunt if you're not hunting a rut funnel specifically. Snowing here in CO right now. Wish I could send these temps your way, I have no use for them. I have a feeling team 7 is going to be putting them on the ground this week!
I'm headed out this afternoon to a good rut funnel where I killed a nice 8 point 2 years ago. Have a stud on camera twice in the last week about a 1/3 of a mile from there. Both pics were at night, but they should be moving before dark soon. Got a 3 point on camera this morning at 9:18 so things are starting to heat up.

Good sit yesterday. Saw 5 deer, 4 of them bucks and 2shooters. Had one at 40 yards but couldn’t get him closer. I’ve already seen one deer far away this morning. It’s warming up but I can stay til dark tonight.

I’ll write more up tomorrow. I’m about to pass out. Dragging a deer 1/2 mile out of the marsh after pneumonia is not fun! It was a fun hunt though! Plus I’ll be back out sometime tomorrow with my bow tag
Half a mile is a good long drag. If its more than a couple hundred yards Im quartering that sucker.
I'm going to have to start doing that. Usually I can find a trail or old road that makes it not bad dragging them out on my sled but tonight I was well off the beaten path for a long while.
i have about 2.5 weeks of season left and i'm feeling the pressure. its been a dammed grind this year. deer are scattered and its been so dry that its hard to get on fresh sign. its so bad i bought a couplea cell cameras trying to get some intel.

I appreciate the hint. Lol, I've been grinding it out myself. Learning a new woods with observation sits. Saw my target buck once at 60 yards, and the second at 20. Only problem with that was I was on the ground at 1:30 putting my trail cam at a different spot, and he walked in on my. Needless to say, that's not the way I wanted to meet him.

Sitting in the woods today. Just had 3rd encounter with my nemesis. Lol. Had him at 20 yards but just to thick where he was. Had to let him walk. Ugh. I will say it is nice to see the same deer more than once.
