Team 7!

I'm slackin here. I've only hunted 3 times in 16 days. Hopefully as Oct gets going I'll get more time to get out

No, I just got it this year. More of a cool idea I picked up from some of them there southern boys we have kicking around here.
12 foot Radisson for $250. At 37lbs I couldn't say no, I just hope it gets me a swamp donkey.
It is a cool thought, i don't think there's any rivers near here i would want to paddle upstream, most are pretty swift.

I made a 4 mile loop through wma here yesterday evening. Found some decent sign, but nothing that said hunt it! I'm wore out today, I've discovered I carry to much stuff and hip boots werent made to walk that far. I'll keep after it though. I’ve had 9 sits so far and all but 2 I’ve seen something! Everything that has been in bow range has been small bucks that aren’t legal and I missed a doe that I shot at coming out of stand Sunday morning! I bet she dropped 2 ft.!!!!!! Couldn’t believe it! Plenty of time though. It’s just starting!

This morning was my 8th sit since last Friday afternoon... and the first one I saw deer! Had a little Y sneak in behind me, then had another little one chasing around a couple of does. Sometimes it's just nice to see something!

I feel your pain.... Yes just give me something to watch and admire. My highlight was a mosquito.

I just got back from an afternoon hunt and only saw three squirrels.

Seen 9 Saturday opening evening, seen 3 yesterday evening and a HUGE bobcat at dark. Definitely a male and likely a 40lb cat. Seen 13 this evening.

I spent the afternoon scouting a new area and preset 5 loops of mason's twine and marked them in Onxhunt. I will try them tomorrow.

3 days being quarantined and not one sit, but also not sick. Now with harvest starting and acorns being mostly done food sources are going to change fast. Gonna take a couple sits just for me to adjust. We are about 2 weeks away from prerut seeking ramping up

What are y'all's thought on mountain oak (chestnut oak) acorns? Most folks around here say deer will only eat them when theres nothing left, but ive read otherwise elsewhere

Was planning on going out last night but I got out of work 1/2 hour late and decided not to go... until I walked outside and it was 60 and breezy. So I scooted over to one of my park hunting spots and at 5:30 as I'm standing on my first stick I watch a buck that was sneaking in at 30 yards bounce off 10 yards then walk away. Pretty sure he just heard me climbing and decided to get out of there. I was downwind and could smell him. I'm not sure I would have shot him as I think he was a borderline shooter but pretty cool, and if I had got out of work on time!

If I can get out today I'll be out but definitely putting some time over the weekend.

I just got a call from my doctor about my MRI. Herniated L/S disc with nerve impingement. Scheduling consult with neurosurgeon.
I'm not saying my season is done. Just don't see myself getting much hang time.
Maybe I'll pull out the guidio's. How many inches off the ground do I have to be per the rules?

Just on the tree is good enough.

How bad is the back? I have had a couple herniated discs in that area for over 10 years now. Sometimes they act up but I've been managing them mostly with stretching and situps. I will have sciatica and lower back soreness but I haven't "thrown my back out" in over 5 years now. I hope you get better!

And I'm still sitting here at work so tonight is a bust but I'll definitely be out in the morning.

Checked my trail cams at the property nearby, both of which had more coyotes than deer, and neither had a shooter buck on it. Pretty disappointing after soaking for about two weeks after getting shooter buck pictures pretty regularly on shorter soaks.
Positively, though, my dad pulled trail cams at the family farm about an hour away, and there's a certified STUD on there in daylight. Might be able to break away from work and hunt Sunday morning before church or later Sunday afternoon... We'll see.
