Trying some new national forest land in the am, going its good the weather is gunna be bueno so maybe I'll get on some sign.

Then testing out the new traeger for lunch, fingers crossed itll be back straps
 
Seen 6 this morning, woke up late and while slipping to the tree I saw a couple deer sitting I just hung back and was gonna let them ease out. Then the buck on the right and another came out, then he spotted me and we had a 5 minute stare down and he slipped out. He was 65 yards.... if I would of been early and got in the tree I wanted I would of had a 22-23 yard shot :cry:Screenshot_20201017-131017_Gallery.jpg

That happened to me last year. Tough pill to swallow.

I had the best sit of the season so far! Had 3 small bucks come by at 10 oclock, as i was attaching my linemans belt to climb down. Would have been an easy poke, just thought they were too young. Neat experience though. Got to watch them rub a tree
 
Saw one walking in and out this morning but nothing from the tree. Had the little one's birthday party this afternoon so I'm home. Hoping to hit the tree for both sits tomorrow.
 
Went on a quick scouting run yesterday, found a nest of does right by the road on a ridgetop.

Further down the ridge (down hill that is), found a scrape and several historic rubs. Im thinking closer to rut, the bucks are stopping by there and scent checking the doe bedding in the evening as thermals fall.

Good intel anyway.
 
I went out Saturday for the last hour and saw no hunters or other cars in the parking lot and no deer. I went out yesterday for 5 hours from 8:30 to 1:30 and saw no deer but a few squirrels.
 
I'm taking off a couple days next week. Probably Thursday and Friday. Weather looks good for me in Maryland. Time to kick butt guys!
 
I'll hit a combo of public and private. Just today my cousin while dropping his son off at his parents saw 3 guys in camo on piece non huntable state land that borders us. Idk if they were scouting or looking for a hit deer but it sucks. I delt with Dnr on it but it's nothing new. We have a lot of poachers and pressure where I live and it's getting worse. We'll comb the woods Sunday. Last year Dnr busted two guys not far from there and the guy pulled a pistol on him....he went to jail..crazy

I'm having a heck of a time finding time to get in a tree. When I do I'm completely striking out. Haven't seen a deer in 3 sits. Now we have 3-5 inches of snow and 10+ more coming. Snow is all of 6 weeks early.
 
Have some days off and a cold front next week to hopefully get it done here in PA. Bought a ring of steps about a week ago and am in love after a few sits despite using a platform all last season.

Hang in there!! You’ll get it done. Use that snow to your advantage and see where there moving and rethink your set up! Good luck!
 
Finally headed out this morning to see what can happen. Temps are still in the high 80’s and lows in the 60’s so movement has been trash and both the hurricanes messed our woods and food crop up so this season is becoming quite the challenge.
