Team #7

Got my results. Yep, tore my ACL. Also a radial tear in my medial meniscus which is probably more concerning long term. Grade 2 MCL partial tear which is the rehab to be able to hunt pre surgery.

Been a roller coaster of emotions all week. I know I got this, but today was a dip. Stiff and sore. Cold front.

Knowledge is a funny thing with health. Now that I know how much damage I did, it hurts worse. Ain't that funny.

I live for this month and next. Battled through some moderate injuries before, but never anything this limiting. Oh well. Not looking for a pity party. Get after it tomorrow.
Damn what a bad time for that to happen. Offroad wheel chair and crossbow time??

What’s recovery time like on that? Think you’ll be able to catch the tail end of the season?

The 5am wake up call for my daughter went as expected, she wasn't having it lol. We tried tonight again but it has warmed up a bunch here today and nothing was moving. Supposed to have weddings the next two weekends that will severely hamper my time in the woods

Well no more opportunities from the saddle.

Saturday morning I got a little bit of a late start. Then I had a chance of plans, the beans I wanted to hunt were gone. So I went to another spot, and I seen a group of 4 doe while I was on the way in, a little bit longer shot than I'd like but they were oblivious so I was going to take it. They were north of me, and I couldn't see them through my peep with the sun in my right eye. They were right there but I couldn't see them at full draw. By the time I got my hat sideways to block the sun I had to move back east to keep up with them and got busted.

Went and scouted around a bit, found a buck trail with some tiny little rubs, but definitely fresh. It was late morning, I was hungry so I decided to bail out, eat and make a plan for the rest of the day. Seen the buck on the way out, big body 4 point, he looked funny with a little rack on him. I want disciplined and let my mind wander from hunting, had I been on my A+ game I might have been able to try a shot, from the ground but no deal. I'm probably overstating that "opportunity".

Saturday night it was rainy with winds in the low to mid teens. I went and did a quick check at the beech and grapes. Nothing. Moved west a few miles where I had a potential bedding spot ( doe) and some oaks marked. I seen a 4 point there, he was trucking right along. I tried stalking him, not ideal but it was wet and worth a shot. I didn't get an opportunity, he was just moving too fast for me to keep or catch up.

Sunday morning had the same wind so I thought I'd try the Saturday morning spot again. Nothing but I did see one at a known crossing spot on my way home, never have figured out any rhyme or reason on why they cross the road there sometimes.

Sorry for the long post. Not getting it done but I'm seeing them so I'm getting closer lol

When you are just trying to kill a deer it doesnt really matter why they are crossing at a spot. If it is a consistent crossing, it's worth a sit or two to try to capitalize on that travel pattern. You can figure out why later.
