Team #7

Looks like I will be out tomorrow evening with my two kids. My daughter is going to be the main shooter, trying to get her her first deer. I'll be tethered in at ground level though so if a second shot opportunity arises I may be able to add some points

Getting MRI here in a bit. Dr. moved it up thankfully but I'm worried about why he wanted to move it up so badly.

Monday I moped so hard. I felt like a wounded animal. Dragged my leg behind me to the Dr. and got checked out other than that laid in bed all day.

Tues - Weds I started working on ROM a lot and bearing a little weight. Got up and dragged myself to work. I park about 1/2 mile from my office, so that was a challenge.

Yesterday I tweaked something and my MCL screamed at me all day. Misery. But actually good, basically an indicator worst I did to my MCL was a partial tear. I recovered from one of those in 2016, about 4 weeks I was almost good to go.

Feeling much better again today. Agressively starting PT, quads are firing ok. Kinda walking, working on my stride but still gimpy. See how it goes. Goal is to be hunting as best as I can by Nov.

Just trying to keep a good mindset, rehab it like an athlete not an aging accountant lol. I still have some athlete in me.

No FOMO at all this week, summer weather.

It's about to get much worse.

Already feeling tempted to sneak out, someway, somehow, even just sit on my tailgate and watch the sunrise or build a blind somewhere 30 yards off the road. Good news is through years of scouting I have some secret roadside spots. Monday is the first cool/dry morning. Might just do that.

Ordered a ghillie that came today. Gonna use a North Mtn as a base with a little jute.

Never been much of a believer in camo in trees, but I do believe in 3d camo on the ground. I've kinda always wanted to kill a ground buck, this I think is my year. I still may try to climb though, we'll see how it goes.

Yesterday was peak bruising. Yep, that's how she bent when she gave out.

Hopefully the reason they moved it up is only due to a cancellation. Hopefully you can salvage some of deer season one way or another. Ground blinds and ghillie suits are a fun new challenge regardless

I've always loved mountain laurel bucks, now I will become the mountain laurel. If I don't arrow one, I can probably give one a heart attack!

Might be that the ortho folks just process folks faster than other docs. The wife went to the ortho doc yesterday afternoon due to and achilles issue and her MRI is Monday. Doc told her yesterday he felt it was just severe tendonitis and bursitis but wanted an MRI to confirm.

On the other hand in May I went to my pcp and had an ekg because I could tell I was having hearth rhythm issues. He called in a referral to a cardiologist. I saw that doc 8 weeks later. He did and echo and a stress test and referred me to an electrophysiologist. I saw him 3 weeks ago. Since this all started I pretty well figured out what the problem was and gave up leaded coffee(was drinking 60-70 oz a day) and started drinking a 24oz bottle of electrolyte mix everyday and decaf coffee. Knocked out 95% of felt symptoms. Last doc said you are already doing what you need to and my issue was not significant enough to address surgically, I'll see you in a year. LOL He seemed more intrigued by my cold turkey coffee switch without side effects than the heart stuff.

Twist a knee or ankle and you can get in and tested before your donuts get stale, catch a heart issue and we'll get to you in a few months. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

For what its worth, Ive seen just as many deer in range on the ground as I have in a tree. Getting a shot off, well, thats a different story.

Yeah that's always been my experience. Just as many close encounters, so much harder to get drawn and shoot.

Well I’m out today and haven’t seen a deer…saw a coyote mid day but it’s a dark to dark sit…after Frieght Train now for the rest of the season…I’ll be hunting in Indiana on a new lease property we just acquired…

I skipped out an hour early. Hit the shower and head over to the other public. Hoping I have a staging area (?) There was tons of sign in the area last December, hopefully they're there now. If no hot sign I'll hope around a few spots, which is a luxury. I'm pretty much going in blind closer to home

That one will certainly do. Hope he shows for you.

Well I have a fresh scrape since last night's rain, a good amount of fresh tracks - some good size even hahaha, signs of feeding and fresher droppings. Wind is good.

Hopefully they are here in legal light, not after dark. I don't know why I never put a camera here

Edit: and there's a ballon on the ground over there for good measure

Quit screwing around and get in the durned tree. ;)

Hanging out in the fleece saddle at ground level trying to get my daughter her first deer. Got a small run in front of us, decent amount of acorns and lots of turkey scratch. Was expecting to bump deer on the way in but didn't. Not sure if that's good or bad at this point

We were close tonight. Nice tall eight hung up at 35 when my daughter went to shoulder the crossbow. I haven't had her shoot past twenty yet so I didn't want to tell her to send even though he was staring at us broadside. He looped around behind some thick stuff and I tried to maneuver for a shot but he picked me off.PXL_20231006_221752242.MP.jpg
