TEAM 8 Discussion Thread

Not a sound tonight. I have next weekend planned for some public land scouting/blind hunting with my cousin. I’m really looking forward to it!

Saw one deer, close as it came was about 90 yards. Right after I got set and surveyed I told myself I should get down and move up, but talked myself out of it. Looking back I should of lol. Seen 15-16 squirrels, so I may go back and bust some of them one day after I knock another deer or two down.

Man I’m jealous of you guys still hunting. Pretty much every one still at it from down south somewhere? All the seasons around me close with the new year!

Arkansas here. Our bow season runs from September 28th, until February 29th. Plenty of time to be picky and fill 6 tags lol. Tonight was my first public hunt of the season, so even getting on deer after driving an hour and half I was happy with.

I am still at it. However it sounds like the neighbor found a sale on ammo somewhere.

It’s supposed to stay warm and wet here in SW Ohio for the rest of January. But the deer have been moving big time in the rain in daylight here.
Yea the deer never stop moving and doing there thing, its just me. I scouted 3hrs today, it was in the 30s real feel 27.... Crazy weather.

I'm gonna try to hit it hard the next 2 weekends but my season may just be about over. Theres talk of going to 6 day work weeks soon because of all the projects we have going, and I just took on a little side project for a local artist that I'll have about 40 hours of welding to do. But between now and summer is when I try to work as much as possible so I can take off in deer season. Also had a few inquiries for small projects to do this summer and of course I've got my own projects I'm going to do. Got a new platform build I want to do, along with a separate stick and platform project.

I am hoping to get out this weekend. I had the perfect wind and perfect conditions to try to set up near that bedding that I found a couple weeks ago but, a couple of hours before I was going to head out my 18 year old son asked me and my wife if we wanted to go bowling with him and his girl friend. I quickly realized he was just looking for us to foot the bill and get a free date with his girlfriend but, since he never wants to do anything with us we took the bait. My sisters family and my parents also went with us so it ended up being a great time and might have saved a bucks life. lol

I took vacation Monday and Tuesday to hunt on public. Finally found really good big buck sign. The spot is a long drive from home. Not sure how many times I’ll get out there before end of season. But I’m already excited about next year! There were many active scrapes and fresh rubs in a small area right between 2 bedding areas. The dew showed me that deer had used the area the morning I was there. In fact I thought I heard some deer sneaking out as I was following their trail in. I need to hang some cameras. Easy access is a bonus! It’s a spot that I’m sure gets overlooked. The rub in the picture was chest high on a tree wider than my gloved hand. Now that I have an idea about the layout, I can be careful accessing it on future hunts. I might get a big one yet!
