Team 8 ready!!!

Got another doe today with the muzzleloader. I shot this deer from the same tree that I shot from yesterday. This doe was standing 25 yards from the gut pile when I shot it! It was facing me looking in my direction trying to figure out what I was. I’m glad I was hunting from a saddle. I got around to the back of the tree and hid from her. I shot her in the throat so that I wouldn’t lose any meat. About a 40 yard shot. My muzzleloader is dead on accurate. I think that’ll do it for me for this year. On January 23, I fly off to be a chaplain in the Navy. C4203D73-2E66-4CDB-9A60-C960A7669FEC.jpeg6777F0CC-8ABE-4A9C-AE2E-797DEEE4A408.jpegDFD463DA-8C3E-44B6-9740-0A926CBF0C02.jpeg

Awesome job Ken,good luck with your new endeavours. You may have ruined some neck meat, which i just really learned to appreciate..I made some pulled venison with it in the dutch oven, deeeelicious.
But you got to shoot them somewhere.

I should learn to better appreciate neck meat. Teach me something about it.
I just cut the neck meat of as good as I can,the vertebrae dont help that. Then i cooked it whole in a pulled pork recipe. I just braised it 4 mins each side then put it in a dutch oven uncovered with tomatoes and beer and spices and onions and garlic and cook it at 325 for about 2 hrs uncovered then an hour or so covered. It falls apart at that point and it is done. First time for me,i love it though.

Well I leave for Delaware tomorrow am for a late season hunt. Only bringing the saddle! I hope I can give us some points finally! You guys are doing great I like seeing all the success!

My NH season ended dec 15th, I drove to PA last Tuesday only to find out there online system was down and I couldn’t get a license. So hopefully this trip works out okay, I have the recurve and muzzleloader. Itching to hunt!

Well fellas, I'm a Navy officer now. And I'm the oldest one (53) in my Officer Development School class of 59. But I'm keeping up with 'em pretty well. I'm a week and one day into this 5 week school. This evening is the first time I've had a chance to catch my breath. Looking back at the pics in this thread and just being on Saddlehunter in general is very good for me right now. Take care guys. Thanks for being on my team. Funny how that means something even though we've never actually met each other. But it does mean something. I appreciate you guys!
