Team 9 Thread

Thanks! I have been cooking since I was 12 yrs old. I stated from a purely practical reason. Mom cooked while me and my two sisters had to clean up after supper. I hated doing dishes so I asked mom if we could trade jobs. She obliged. So I learned and by 13 yrs old I would cook the full dinner by myself so I didn’t have to clean up. I feel in love with cooking and began watching the food network. I loved watching Emeril Lagasse and the original Iron Chef as well as many others. I considered even being a chef as my profession. It was about 5 yrs ago when I discovered Meat Eater and others that I really stepped up my wild game cooking game. It used to be bacon, cream cheese and jalapeños on everything.
I was a professional catering chef for years. I can tell your food is the real deal

Anybody have any good hunts over Thanksgiving? My mom is coming in town next week to help with the baby so I am hoping to get out for a couple of gun hunts on a local farm. High probability to kill some deer and hopefully a buck to upgrade a doe.

Finally got my dad in the woods the Friday after thanksgiving. His first hunt of the year. I got called to work and told him that if I was him I’d be in the shooting house this evening. Well he listened and 10 mins...yes just 10 mins after being there one of the target bucks come walking by. This was also his first hunt alone and his biggest bucks to date. Proud of the Ol’ Man. I have 3 yrs of pics of this buck too.

That is so cool buddy!

Going out for a hunt this afternoon. It’s my first one in over a month. My mom is coming in town so I get a guilt free hunt. This baby has been pretty rough not sleeping and being fussy so it would not have been wise to leave my wife alone for a hunt. Taking out the old Boom Boom stick to a farm down the road. Cold front moved in last night and it’s a 14 degree drop in temps. The second week of December is usually when we see a lot of chasing on this farm. The rut is later in Bama than the Midwest.

Good luck to you...I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and finally notch that doe tag with a recurve.

Saw a lot of does, probably almost 20 in total but not really much bucks or chasing. Saw one 2 yr old 8 point run across the field at about 300 yds and another small buck at about 600 yds. That’s a little outside my range. If I was on a bench with sand bags, maybe would have been a different story.

Had my first sit since oct 30. My freezer is full so I was trying to bag a doe for a neighbor. Didn't see anything. I also grabbed my five cameras and found 3 missing sd cards. Not to happy. Its private land and the land owner let's another group of people gun hunt it. Its not the cards that I am upset about its taking someone else's property.

Just had the same thing happen to me. P*ss's me off too.

I’ve been MIA from the board. Had some quality sits since my last post. Came to full draw a nice 8 before thanksgiving but he never gave me a shot. Ive been in the game on a couple nice ones. Had another 9 point at 12 yards but my bow was still on the ground. Ugh.

However, “Rick Ross” has shown back up the last couple of weeks but only at night. He’s #1 on the list. First buck I targeted back in June and he’s still in the same core area. Just need to get a daytime routine. If I strike out, I’ll make sure I get a couple does on the ground before the deadline. Staying the course. 225A6CB5-2B08-4B0F-8B21-DCA9D88DEF05.jpeg

Well guys I've been out hunting hard the last couple of days deep in a swamp which is a bedding area....I finally had a good buck come thru today at 4:20, but I wasn't sure of the hit - although I think it was good I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning....the thing that bothers me is the number of coyotes in that 20201208_184028.jpgarea20201208_190107.jpg
I believe this is the buck I shot at today

No he came in so fast I just got my gun and waited for him to come thru an opening...I'm always going to get the shot off before worrying about the camera...well I just got up..didnt s sleep good last nite thats for sure...going to bring my hip boots today just in case....I'm hoping he just fell over...I just just couldn't see him once he went sideways after the shot...but I could barely see him standing in those red willows walk straight away...well its been a long tuff season but its an excuse to stay out in the woods....and thats a good thing...this is a buck I've been after for a couple of years...this was the second sit in this spot this season...so I feel at this part of the season dream big and dare to risk defeat....this spot is hunting right in his hen house20201209_082933.jpg

I used to film but stopped because the camera was to much of a distraction (weight, more gear to set up and take down, worrying about getting the shot on camera, editing afterwards) It was fun and I got some cool footage but ultimately I just punted on it. I miss it sometimes but other times not.

Ya...the camera can inslave you so much you miss the opportunity

Well, I just got home fellas from looking for the buck above, this is the photo my camera took yesterday on his bedding trail which is 40 yrds from my set-up I've only seen this buck once in the flesh which was last year. So for the sake of brevity, looks like I hit a branch 20 yrds in front of my stand which deflected my shot. There was no blood, hair, or bone where he was standing...and no blood on any of the runs...so I climbed my tree because I couldn't believe I missed..thats when I noticed the hit branch in front of me...I'm just so disappointed beyond words. I'm going to hang all day tomorrow and give it a go...still have the rest of the season to put my tag on him
Oh and the time he walked in was 4.06...haven't changed the time on that camera since last yr
