CANNOT WAIT
Me either! Unfortunately I just realized I've got an issue that needs to be resolved prior to me heading into the woods...

A couple months ago we had a freezer die. Don't know how my wife did it, but she found room in our refrigerator's freezer part for all the stuff we had in there. Never did replace that other freezer though and now I have no place to put a deer.

Can't believe it, but I'm asking for a freezer for our anniversary this year (late OCT). :tearsofjoy: Yall please be praying about this!

I’m in the same situation. Have a moose permit to fill and can’t find a decent freezer anywhere.

Hope you can find a freezer! A couple months ago I want to buy a second freezer and they were no where to be found around me. I think stock is coming back in but there has been a shortage for a few months it sounded like. Darn covid making everything a little harder to find.

Got an invite from a friend that has a large deer hunting farm. Going out for morning and evening with him tomorrow. The tricky part will be getting in a saddle in his preset stands. Good chance to smoke a doe.

I love preset stands. Use the existing climbing apparatus and just swing behind it or above it or below it with an extra stick and your platform. Boom. And the existing stand acts as a false sense of security for the deer that are looking for somebody to be sitting in it.

You just use the lineman’s belt going up instead of the preset safe line?

One thing I will have to watch is several sets here are in big trees with ratchet straps. Would be too big for platform strap.

Fawn down.(30 yards) snorted at me 3 times and let me dig out my rangefinder, range it, move my pin and draw back. Basically needed to die. Its fun just throw it in your pack and haul it out. First time shooting a fawn in 18 years of hunting.

Mega platform! For the contest I made sure I wasn’t in a harness.

so this was pretty nice. I would have liked my buddies stand adjusted a little bit, but I was able to use the saddle better than a 5 point harness. I was even able to do the tether over the shoulder sit on the seat at times. And I trusted my tether way more than his years old stays out all year safeline with likens growing on it.

So on my hunt yesterday afternoon I got to watch this nice 2.5 yr old for about an hour. It’s a very well managed farm and they have a strict 4.5 yr old standard. I generally just get to provide doe patrol for my buddy as I have never had a shooter in range. But I love doe patrol so it’s a good gig. I saw over 30 deer last night so it’s generally exciting. I also get to watch deer behavior since if I would have been on public or less strict permission, this buck would have been smoked in minutes but rather I got to watch him for almost an hour.

I hunt with a predator plateform and a ring of steps for one simple reason " I like to stand and lean against the tree alot....like your approach

Yeah, I’m a Predator guy too and generally use my top step of my beast stick as extra space. It was super nice on my buddies preset to be able to move wherever I wanted. I have become much more of a leaner this year. I was more of a sitter last year.
