Was that rosemary and onions?

Its smashed garlic and fresh rosemary and thyme from the garden

My method:
Fast cast iron sear with grape seed oil. Add smashed garlic + fresh rosemary and thyme from the garden and then several tbsp of butter and butter baste to finish. This is about the only way I cook tenderloin, backstrap and eye of round.

Another one! Doe patrol. My buddy needs 30 does killed this year on his farm. Now he only need 28 more. I easily saw 10-15 adult does 10 or so fawns and 5-6 young bucks.

So you may be asking yourself, where did Xander hit that deer? well funny story. She was to the west of me and the setting sun was giving me problems. As she was walking I thought I had it right when all of a sudden the sun broke into my field of view blinding me out as I pulled the trigger. Well I pulled a little bit in that moment and it went back on the deer, way back. She took off like a bat out of you know where. I didn’t her her crash but I gave her til dark. I checked my arrow and it was all stomach matter. My heart sank. But I looked over and it’s all blood spray on the ground. I cautiously take up the trail out of the field to at least the field edge. It’s blood spray everywhere. I keep cautiously following the blood trail looking for the eyes of a bedded deer ahead but all I am seeing is tons of blood. Within seven minutes I found my deer. I could have easily walk/ran the blood trail with the amount of blood and been there if I had wanted too. As I suspected from the trail, when it went back, it went way back and through the hams. There was some intestines that came out one side since it was near the pelvic cavity. The other was center ham. It’s not what you want to hit, but boy it was efficient. She only made it 175 yds and by the look of it ran the whole way and just died. Thankfully I didn’t loose much meat, just a bit of the sirloin tip. It was an interesting track. You can see her circling back to bedding. Broad head was a rage hypodermic. That large cut was helpful and it had enough energy to blow through her and stick 8 inches in the dirt.

Ok boys I’m hitting the stand for doe patrol this evening. Got an invite from a buddy of mine to hunt his farm. We’ve both killed nice bucks opening weekend so now it’s time to get back it. Then this week I’ll have my daughter back in the stand.
Also I think after SEVERAL back packs I found found the one that I like. The Mystery Ranch Treehouse.

Hope you slam a nanny! I use a Mystery Ranch pop up 28 and love it.

Well guys, opening weekend was... tough. I won’t get into it but let’s just say there’s been a lot of opportunities so far and I have been ON TOP of the deer.

Shoot a little high?
That would be correct sir. Then had a doe walk out today, but was waiting for the bigger one following her to step out from he ing some brush. Unfortunately the “bigger” one stepped out and was only a fawn. By the time I realized my mistake the first doe caught me moving and spooked.

Been there done that. One of the does I killed straight up dodged my first arrow. She stuck around too long and I got the second crack where she was not so lucky.

Well boys i thought I 10 ringed a big ol nanny doe tonight. Everything looked great. Tracked for about 100 yds and found my arrow. Arrow was covered in blood. Tracked for another 75 yds and came to an uncut pipeline right of way and lost the blood trail. I’m confident that she is in the tall weeds there...and when I say tall I’m 6’6” and hit me in my chest. I looked for almost 2hrs and couldn’t find her in the dark. Good news is it’s suppose to be in mid 30’s tonight. I’ll be up at day break to go look again.

Shot and missed last night, saw a small buck and spooked a doe tonight, all within 30 yards... the question now becomes, do I hunt that spot tomorrow night or go hunt somewhere else and give it a break???

I’m shocked she even made it 100 yards after looking at that arrow...

Hit it again while it's hot! This time don't be picky waiting on the trailing doe though brother :)
