Team Johnny 5 is alive!

I still have fresh scrapes here in Ohio but cannot kill anymore till Sept.

Fresh scrapes here too. Mid December in my area is often quite good when the yearling does come into estrous. I’ve got one buck tag remaining for my home state and will only use it on a giant, unless it’s the last week and then it’s all fair game.

All my cameras are showing deer in their normal non-rut patterns, but I'm pretty much only getting pictures of doe groups. Overwhelming majority of photos are at night, too

It’s a good thing we are holding a substantial lead. We got 4” snow today and more on the way. Unless this perfect tracking snow goes south you won’t catch me in the saddle again for a while!

That’s awesome congratulations. I’m still after them when I can. I’m currently regulated to Saturday mornings. I do have a city buck I’m trying to figure out where he’s bedding so I can try to get him to move closer.

Not too crazy of story. I got out really early because I am hunting on the food source and have to walk in where deer can potentially see me from a distance. Took the far property line in and then walked in the river bottom to get close to the corner where the deer come out. Found a giant tree right on the edge of a cliff on the river bank. Tethered in on the ground with about a 15 ft drop at my back. Wouldn't have been able to stand where I was at without my saddle because I was leaning out over the river. Had close to 30 does come by some as close as 8 yards on the field edge. The tree I was tethered into was big enough for me to hide behind so I didn't get picked off. Of course big boy followed all the does out onto the field right at the end of legal light and I made a clean shot on him. Still can't believe it all came together so well!
