Tether'd Predator Platform

My Predator arrived today. How do I know if it’s a gen 1 or 2?

I've been hunting my platform for a few weeks now, and the only time it made any noise is when i cinched it down super tight, I actually stepped off of it and loosened it up a bit, got a good cam on it and it was all set. Up until that point not a peep. I don't think you need to be standing on the tops of them. I think just let the platform cam, and that should be good. Take the time to get it set with the strap straight around the tree before you cam it down. Get it straight on the tree and let those top dogs make contact before you cam down the platform.

I climb all over mine and it doesn't move a lick. I have a gen 1. I say that because I've had it for a couple of weeks at least, maybe three

guys I have been using the gen 1 all season. you don't have to get silly with the cam over. I put mine on the tree, push down just a bit, cam the platform and that's it. if you break a platform by cramming it over it is because you are trying to force it. DONT force it, just set it, tighten, can and then step up on it. mine doesn't budge at all when I step on it.

I agree with Dave here. Supprisingly solid without using a lot of force on the cam over.

Yeah it ain't rocket science. Used mine for this first time yesterday. Zero noise or issues with being tight enough.

I usually cam it over once, lift the platform back up and retighten the strap and then cam it over again. This seems to settle the teeth into the bark and it’s rock solid. Even on trees where it wasn’t super tight it still doesn’t move. Can’t say how much I love this thing!

I have the first gen. I waxed everything the day it came in and haven’t heard a peep. I agree with the others that it doesn’t have to be that tight. I’m 290 and it’s plenty stable for me.

Mine started to make noise again when it got below 20 degree temps. It was quiet for the 1st few weeks, then it started the noises so we did the bow wax fix and it did the trick...until below 20f. As soon as temps warmed a few degrees, the noise went away. I used original TexTite wax. Maybe the synthetic wax will hold up to cold temps.

I'm a lot more brave camming tightly on soft, thick barked trees like walnut. I'm a little more careful when I cam on the thin bark trees.

That's exactly how I do it as well. Zero issues

Can someone point me to the link related to the predator making a noise, mine has started making what could be best described as a metal on metal poping sound as I move around the platform, I’ve ckecked it over and I don’t think that it has a crack, I can’t pinpoint the location of the sound but it seems that it’s coming from multiple locations, any help would be great,
Pat.

Have you put bowstring wax on anything yet? I would wax the pivot bolt, wedge spacers, hole in post, and the hole in the platform reassemble and try again. I did mine right out of the box and haven’t heard it make a sound. That’s over a hundred hours on the platform squeak and pop free.

Same here - I have over 300 hours on mine this year and have not had a single peep from mine. I have 2 more on order (Gen 2) so hopefully I will find the same result with them.

Hi Eric,

No, I have not tried anything yet, this is a new issue and I thought maybe someone on here may have some insight before trying anything, so I’ll give your recommendation a try and see what happens, thanks for the speedy reply,

Pat.
