Tethrd Carbon Fiber Platform

i remember it feeling like a giant hornet sting...like a splinter with chemical burn added...maybe due to the small fibers doing their thing.....was it similar for you?
No, the arrow broke off about 4 inches in front of the fletchings and imbedded itself in my arm on release. I spent 2 hours in the ER with the Dr. probing my arm for left over pieces of arrow and fibers. Story for another time. It was a long time ago and I didn't mean to hijack the thread. Back to the thread at hand. :)

Timber Ninja used an aluminum stand off on their carbon climbing sticks.
Why didn't they go with a carbon stand off???
It looks like the standoff and the platform are all carbon on the Tethrd platform, I could be wrong?

I'm assuming there is aluminum reinforcement of some kind where it connects to the post. The connecting bolt would load the fibers in the wrong direction otherwise and it wouldn't even be worth testing. We'll see.

A larger platform helps if the tree is leaning toward you at all.

That's a good point, but I am talking about where the platform makes contact with the tree.

Why would you want a carbon standoff?

Still have carbon fiber pieces in my left forearm from an arrow blowing up on release 15+ years ago.
This exact same thing happened to me that's we I stopped shooting my bow in my basement. A arrow hit the concert thru the target n I didn't notice the cracks til the next shot when the worst bee sting I've ever felt happened.

A bit of a better pic if anyone hasn't seen it yet One thing I don't like is the thing at the top of the tube. If they made this more like a step/handle it could definitely be used as a climbing platform.

After the one sticks, in no conceivable universe would I give them my money for the first run of these
Agree 100%. Hope the glue holds up better than it did on the one sticks.
wish they did something different ont those sticks because i would own a set.
platform is a Great idea and probably will be great after the year of consumer testing data is taken in.
i wont be a Guinea pig for equipment.
i always wait awhile until some real reviews come in, not some back yard unboxing or i climb the oak tree in my yard in crocs and shorts. Lol.
i hope for them this platform is a hit, for me i see a really nice one coming out from the Dacquisto’s camp.

Can’t wait to see the price… yikes

Carbon is stiffer lighter and stronger than aluminum but has its drawbacks. Is it worth it for a platform? Personally I think it’s up to the user.

Don’t really see the carbon arrow comparison too, apples to oranges

There's no definitive info, Ernie said something about it weighing in like the original but....It's currently just a tease. Tethed doesn't have it all worked out yet.

Maybe a smaller platform would have been a better starting point for structural integrity, but I like the size they've shown and find the potential advantage greater.
out of curiosity, and it could totally be standard so forgive me if it is...but if a product is not market ready and considered to be a tease, with some development still needing done, how can it be qualified & take home the product of the year for the industry? scratching my head a little over here

I don’t know the situation on that. It was referred to as a prototype. Ernie said they had some manufacturing details to work out.

Perhaps, good faith on release this year?

I don’t know that it won any awards, but the first LWCG Ambush platform at ATA was significantly different than the eventual release.

Maybe someone more trade oriented could answer better. Maybe it’s further along than I presumed based on the language around the platform.

I was wondering the same. What if the product of the year doesn’t make it to market this year. It doesn’t really matter, but I had the same thought.
