Tethrd FAS Pack orders

Received mine today. I did buy on BF and was guaranteed Christmas Delivery, which didn't happen. It was overnight air shipped to me and should have arrived on 12/23. However it was delayed due to severe weather, so I can't really hold it against Tethrd. Also, it was a gift for myself so it didn't technically ruin Christmas for any one else since it was late.

My initial thoughts on the pack are mixed. I think the pack is really nice and it appears to be made well. It has a bunch of pockets and really I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with the Molle bags Tethrd sent to me as part of the package deal, I don't think I need them. I think the majority of my criticism so far is with the accessories. 1) the compression kit straps are OD green but the pack straps and predator pack are coyote brown. just seems like a really bad oversight, especially when you factor in the price. EDIT - So after some more playing around I realize that the straps only look green under florescent light. Under natural light they are brown. It is a drastic difference. 2) the predator pack has a ton of straps on it, some of which you can't remove. it also does not have a buckle to secure the opening as pictured on the website or in the FAS PACK YouTube videos. It has two competing G hooks one of which doesn't appear to have anything to hook to. I took them off and used the buckle from the compression kit to create a buckle for the pack.

I don't think this pack is going to be my late season pack. I put all my late season gear in/on it and it just doesn't sit right on me. It sits really high. And when you combine sitting high with the extra weight of late season gear it doesn't feel right on me, especially if I plan to hike any distance. I tried using a compression strap as a waist belt to try to take weight off my back but because it sits so high it is ineffective. I also don't really like the shoulder straps. They feel very narrow at the top. Also since the bag rides really high the straps feel like they run to the sides very quickly and I'm unable to attach my backpack strap holster in a comfortable position. I run this holster on several other packs I have and it has never been an issue.

I do think the pack is VERY customizable and I spent several hours moving the compression straps around and playing with how I want to attach my gear. I also really like using the predator pack as a compressor to carry my outer layers. I'm going to play with it a bunch more and see how I feel in a few days.
