I started using permethrin last year but also started using a thermacell at the same time. Then I lost my thermacell. Guess i’ll have to pick up a new one.

Damn I just walk through the mist all the time. I'm bad about spur of the moment wanting to check a trail cam so I just throw on my rubber boots and spray them and the tops of my pants that I'm wearing and run check 'em (not the way you are supposed to do it). I'd rather get cancer and die than live with the disease that you can't eat meat!
 
I don’t find it repels mosquitoes, it might reduce the amount of mosquitoes on my clothes and I’m pretty sure they die if they make enough contact but they still get on my face and exposed skin. I still use a thermacell in those conditions.
 
Former navy devil doc here. We sprayed uniforms all the time with this stuff out of a pump sprayer. The concern is when it's wet. That's why we'd have our Marines lay their uniforms out on the grinder and we'd spray them and let them dry, then have the private helping us flip them and we'd spray the opposite side and let them dry. After that there's no concern.

Honestly, as long as I've been hunting and scouting, I have never had an issue with ticks other than pulling them off when I seen them. When I was young and crawling all over the woods, I would get them all the time and they would sometimes be stuck in. I remember one time when I was like 10, we were on our way to church one morning and I felt the back of my head and I had one swelled up the size of a pencil eraser. I dont know how I never got Lyme or other tick disease. But I grew up where you didnt go to the doctor for a just a fever, just if you had broken bones or couldnt breathe, or major bleeding. So who knows, I may have something crawling thru my blood...
 
I always spray my clothes the night before and hang to dry. Then when im scouting and sweating I wipe my face on my sleeves and then my face burns. Probably need to start bringing a towel. I also spray my clothes each time even if it's only been washed once. Never tried to go out after multiple washes.
 
I think sweat hinders the performance... .early in the day I'll see them jump off....after sweat saturated the shirt I see them crawling and not jumping off....I apply after every wash....these steps are taken the day before.....step 1 make sure the kitty put away 2 hang clothes on the clothesline 3 gloves and face shield 4 spray down concentrating on the spots they can get access to your skin 5 wait a couple hours 6 put clothes in drybag.....I put my clothes on once I get to the area I'm hunting. I keep my shirt tucked in with a belt on my pants that is adjusted kinda tight to help keep them out. I wear bibs more than pants so I'll tuck my shirt into my undies with the bibs....I wear treated liner gloves that I tuck the sleeves of the shirt under to help keep them out there also....

And I have tick treated socks, and I tuck the bottoms of my tick treated pants inside the tick treated socks. Ain’t no way they will get to me there. It is definitely a hilarious look, but I rock that look along with my dad bod. No shame in my game.
 
I use permethrin and I use a small ozone generator to get the funk out of my clothes. Ozone will degrade the effectiveness of the permethrin it looks like. There aren't any definitive articles out there I can find but it only makes sense in my mind. I think we may go through this every year too but just wanted to bring it to light for the guys that use permethrin and ozone and weren't aware. I'm tired of giving Sawyer so much $ .....anybody want to give some step by step instructions on mixing the concentrate to the correct dilution for treating clothes?

@Weldabeast there's a formula in this article. Says, "How to dilute concentrated permethrin." and there's more in the comments section of that article. Depends on concentration of the stuff you buy.

I have some from the feed store. It's called zone-plus. I mix it 2 ounces per gallon and that's a .566% concentration by my math. Slightly stronger than sawyers. I haven't had a tick since I switched from the pre-mix stuff. MUCH cheaper.
 
I just got 10 items back from Insect Shield I think it was about $80.00. I've had Lyme disease twice so I'm not taking anymore chances. Nice to be able to send in your own clothes and it's supposed to last for 70 washes or the life of the garment.

I sprayed my clothes last year twice and had no bugs staying around me.
