The No-Shame Thread

I still hunt out a Tree Lounger on my family property. Most comfortable Tree Stand ever made hands down.

Granted it has a ton of downsides, but for rifle hunting on private with access to a UTV and ability to set up well in advice of the hunt.....well it works pretty damn good

How do you "still hunt" in a treestand? Seems loud and cumbersome... :p

I hate cornbread.

Absolutely loathe it. My ancestors only ate it because they couldn't get wheat flour, and danged if I'm gonna eat it unless the same is true for me.

Grits, on the other hand, are delicious and nutritious.

Hoe cakes

And back to banjos

Grits are good, only if slathered in jam. At least for this northerner’s palette.

I've learned the last couple of seasons that I like the simplicity of walking in with my weapon in hand and a pack on my back. Finding deer sign and setting up close by on the ground. Never had much luck this way but haven't climbing trees recently either ha. I think it's just laziness more than anything. I'm really interested in one of the these Summit chair packs.

Some days, I’d rather trout fish than saddle hunt.
Even during the rut.
Makes me feel like a preacher skipping prayer meeting to play poker.

Yeah i'd be lying if I said I haven't been thinking about Spring Bass fishing already. Didn't do much fishing this year and never took my kayak out that I bought last Summer. Have it rigged for a fish finder and everything. Motivation to get some meat in the freezer.

Where’s the love for the banjo pickers? We exist too! One would think a hunting group would lean heavily towards banjos and fiddles.

And no shame in my game that I pick a banjo (not good, but I do pick one) and listen to bluegrass music.
Got one 0f them too...1894ish windsor zither banjo. Ive never been very good. But it's on my to do list.!

I ain't much for bass fishing, but boyeeee I love me some crappie fishing in the spring. Didn't do as much this year as usual, but did some on Pymatuming lake and got into some huge slabs.

That’s a unique banjo!

I have a recording king banjo. Master tone replica. Sounds good to me and sounded way better when my banjo instructor played it.

I just do 3 finger / Scruggs style. I would like to buy an old timey banjo and learn how to do some frailing / claw hammer. My to do list.

It’s a cyclical saga for me...trout, largemouth, turkey, redfish, smallmouth, carp, deer, deer, deer, and deer.
Some years my rhythms are out of whack...like a hormonal teenager...and I flip flop between weeks instead of seasons. This is one of those years, I reckon.
Of course, with this many interests, the gear list is always growing...new fly rod, new wading boots, kayak, bow, new SADDLE. Yes, the wife loves this and often reminds me that I chose the wrong profession to support all my passions
If I had to scale things back, I could probably do without everything but deer and trout. Resolution 2021?? Nah...lol

Oh man, I love to hear and more importantly watch the banjo being played. To me, that is a skillset few ever obtain but I know nothing about them... its just like a great fiddle player...That's raw talent IMHO.

I wish I had a regular hunting partner but I don’t want to give up any of my good spots.

I come un-glued at the moment of truth and make poor shot selections.

My family thinks I’m lame because all I watch is hunting videos. I am confident in my lameness.

I regularly loose sleep thinking about hunting.

I wish I was 2 inches taller and 20 lbs lighter.

I have the tenderloins and back straps from my deer ground up and made into sausage and hot sticks.

I drink out of the milk jug when no one is looking and holler at my son for doinG the same thing.
