The Sladder… ABSOLUTE BEST Climbing method

With that said, I'm still a bit skeptical of having to go around branches with my linesman belt in the middle of the ladder. My initial thought is to clip my bridge straight into the closest ladder step to unclip my LB and move it around the branch. @grayskwerel if you have any advice on this, please let me know.

The Sladder Climbing System is designed to be used to ascend up the tree. It is not a safety device and should never be used as such. You should always be tethered or attached directly to the tree with a device designed for that purpose that meets ASTM standards. Just as you would never attach directly to a climbing stick, you should never attach directly to the Sladder.

I receive mine. Haven't had a chance to climb with it. But the quality is great. First impression complaint ... these should just come with 6ft daisy chains. The daisy chain that comes with it is shorter than I realized and extensions are pointless. No one fiddles with 3 ft daisy chains for sticks and then adds 3 ft extensions to them. They just buy 6 ft daisy chains.

Skyjacker, thank you for your purchase and your feedback. When attaching sticks the daisy chain goes around the tree and locks onto the center of the stick which is off the tree. The daisy chain on the Sladder attaches to the right side and up against the tree. The testers preferred the shorter daisy chains on the smaller trees as it interfered less with the lineman’s belt as you climb. You can always add the extensions and leave them attached if they do not interfere for you, but we wanted to leave the option with the user per their preference. Try them both ways on a smaller tree and let us know what you think.

I noted the same thing, and I realize why! I could cover 90% of my trees with 4.5-5' as a base length and then add extensions if needed. Maybe increase the daisy chain length to 4.5' or offer 5' as an option, or offer a few different length options. I do realize that everyone's area is different, but I personally will need the extensions on 99.9% of the time, although not for the "full" length of both...

Another thing you can do if you want to leave the extensions on but are climbing a smaller tree is do a second wrap (go under... watch the video). This will also give a better grip on the tree while still allowing for release if you attach it properly as shown in the updated instructional video.

Is the intention behind this system to rappel down the tree?

Or do you have a way to reverse the process to climb down?

You can climb down with the Sladder but you have to use a tether and hang off of it to attach the bottom and then climb back on the Sladder into the stirrups and release the top. Climb down and repeat. It's much faster and easier to Rappel down, plus it's much more fun!

If you have placed an order on or before 9/22 and have not yet received notification of shipping, it will ship out on Friday 10/6 and you should receive your Sladder some time next week. Thank you for your patience as we catch up on orders.
