The Wraptor

@DanO - That should work perfectly and I like the color better than the ones I found. Cool to see you offering the supplies for these, a true one stop shop for DIY saddlers!

I'm thinking of making another but with no metal.

Probably will use an amsteel bridge with an eye on each end instead of the metal rings, and sew additional strap loops to the outside of the upper belt for linesman connections, and another strap on the inside of that same piece as a waist belt. Maybe incorporate some molle loops on the linesman piece outside.

I've sketched it out but haven't begun it yet.

@Bwhana ..... Where are you on this build? Been anxious to see the finished product!

Been done for a while and ready to hunt. Built one for Kelvin, Barry, and myself. Post 91 shows Kelvin in the tree with both tether and linesman attached to the rings. Kept it very simple with just a 2" quick detach plastic belt buckle. I am going to remove my belt and use a custom length bungie cord between the rings to hold it in place walking and climbing. To address the issue some mentioned about the bottom loop flopping around while walking, I just clip it to the top loop with a huge paper clip, like the ones I used to hold it together to be sewn. It feels just like an Anderson for a little under $60!

I took a stab at one of these. Certianly is light and packs up nice. Very comfy as well. I did end up making the top half a bit shorter and putting some clear liquid rubber on the bottom to keep it in place. This webbing is slippery!

I like those rings, I would have used them if I had not already bought the round ones. Also, good thinking on making the lengths different- should be a helpful tip for others.

Looks good! I know others have also said that about the webbing, but we have not experienced any slipping or sliding in ours, so wondering if it is just a certain fabric that does it or we just have not put enough hours on ours yet?

Which rings did you use?

I think the material has a lot to do with it, but the shape (or lack there-of) of the rear end probably plays a part to. Ever try to hang a ring on an antler point that just deosnt quite make the cut?

I Like Your Set Up . I Used a Cheap Buckle (not load bearing) but it would appear yours would be load bearing. Your Petzels would be pulling apart on your buckle?? Not Trying to be Critical, Trying to Improve Mine.

Hey Blacksmith. If your talkin to me, no sir, im just using a plastic buckle. Not load bearing. I usually do like a load bearing buckle, and use them with all of my other DIY saddlees and may switch to one, but right now im wallering in the delight of the lightness of this rig. Ill bog it down with safety later!
