Thinking of going to thumb release..

Dam, too many options on releases!

I struggle with target panic bad. The Carter Silverback is a back tension release that John Dudley from Nock On Archery pushes. I’ve been practicing with it but don’t hunt with it. The Nock 2 It is a trigger release that’s identical to the Silverback. So practice back tension with Silverback hunt or in my friends case shoot tournaments with the trigger Nock 2 It.
The back tension helps me to not punch.
I started this release quest after missing a 140 to 150 at ten yards last year and the next day gut shooting a about 125 at 7 yards and never recovered it.
Only two opportunities I had and blew both.
The Silverback has helped.

I have used both and when hunting I used a Trueball Chappy Boss I always carried a back up thumb release just in case I dropped it. I used it for years then went back to my Truefire Hardcore an and a Carter Quickie I always carry a back up just in case. I like that my release is always on my wrist and I just got very comfortable with a wrist release. Thumb releases are great releases and are very accurate. Try them out and only you can decide if they are for you. You can get some of the with a wrist strap.

When I started shooting bow around the age of 5 I learned to shoot with my fingers. As I got older my dad kept pushing me to switch to a wrist release, I always had a hard time getting comfortable with it but finally learned to use it. Last year I finally decided to start using a thumb release. I figured since I loved shooting fingers as a kid I might like it better than a wrist. I tried a few releases out and loved how the Carter Wise Choise 3 finger fit my hand, so I purchased one. I will never go back to a wrist release. I can anchor better and hold tighter groups. Everybody is different. My advice to anyone trying a thumb release, test out a bunch of them before you buy one.
