THP PUBLIC HUNTING CHALLENGE PA

The cold hard truth is most of us don't know how to hunt. Some get lucky, but just like fishing, 10% catch the most fish regularly. When I was active on the hunting beast there were a few guys that traveled and knocked down big bucks wherever they went. I asked how is that? They said most people don't know how to hunt. I took that as a slam, but the more I watch THP, they do well with limited time. They came to michigan and the weather was horrible, rained with lots of flooding. I kinda hoped they wouldn't do well to justify my years of failure. However Teddy got on a nice one last night of the trip. A couple more days and it might have been big bucks down. Those guys know how to get on deer. I read/saw something the other day that really changed my perspective. 90% of guys sit on a dock and think as long as their line is in the water they have a chance at catching big bass. Its the 10% in boats that go to the fish that consistently catch them. Ive spent years "in a tree" thinking im in the game. Gotta find that hot sign, as the game changes where its played.

What “hot sign” should be hunted?

Dan preaches terrain based bedding and he hasn't left a creek bottom. Not trying to slam the guy, he's likeable. But old deer do not bed in the kinda places he is hunting. He's easy to pick on because he is so vocal in his strategy but his crew is onto some deer and most likely to kill a 2 year old.

Zack is a total wildcard. I can't relate to his ground pound skills. I am consistently annoyed and amazed by him.

Sturgis literally looks like doublebull dropped him off in the middle of now where and told him to talk about dumbbells as a talking point.

I like Sturgis but it's clear he was out of his element. The guy is a professional land manager and has knocked down some crazy good bucks but it's all on heavily managed private land. Still I give him props for stepping up, though the money shot of him spraying down with scent spray was super cringe.

Yeah he had no business being out there, it was like they were doing cutaways to the Outdoor Channel.

What happened to the Tethrd guys?

Ill agree he looks lost and not sure why he is sitting in a pop up. But he has shot several dandy bucks on public land, including Pa. Yes he has shot some great deer on private, and Im a fan of his as I like to do habitat work.

I wasn’t aware he hunted much public anymore. I thought he was strictly a private land guy.

To be fair to Jeff for all we know he’s in a money spot and the blind was the best strategy.

I would have to say that blind looked killer! Anyone know the model? I can’t get the wife off of the ground
