Just a heads-up.
I just spoke with Mark Cama from Treehopper. The new drills are almost ready to ship. They should go out next week sometime. I have not yet received mine but I believe these will be awesome. I tried-out my buddy's EZKUT drill. It worked fine, but I'm not impressed with the body...it's cheap, thin wall metal. The Treehopper is machined from aircraft grade aluminum. I can't wait to get it.
I had a very nice conversation with Mark. He seems to be genuinely interested in our opinions. He has intentions on attending Saddlepalooza.
I received an email from him yesterday, drill ships next week!

Got my new Treehopper drill Saturday . This drill is the Cadillac of hand drills! I've been using Simmons woodpecker drills for almost 30 years and this drill is even superior to it. It's a precision piece of equipment. If you have an EZKut drill and you try this one, you will toss your EZKut in the creek the first day. Remarkably it's cheaper than the EZKut too. It seems to drill about 1/4 in or so deeper than the Simmons and EZKut which is nice. Very quiet and precision operation. No sloppiness in the construction, very tight. I would say if you use this drill you'll never complain about drill and bolts again and recognize this system as the absolute best portable climbing system available, where legal. As you can tell I'm very impressed with this drill and I've used all models including several copies made by local machinists for me and my buddies. No need to look further . Just stock up on a new drill or two and a few replacement bits and you'll be set.
I couldn't have said it any better. One correction...I believe the EZKut and the Treehopper are the same price...$59.95. Which is surprising in itself...Yes, the price is the same, but the quality is worlds apart. Treehopper is hands-down better than the EZKut.Got my new Treehopper drill Saturday . No, 1/2" isn't available. But after speaking and emailing with Mark, it wouldn't surprise me that they would make a 1/2" if there is a demand. Can you get it with a 1/2” drill bit? Or is it only available in 3/8”?

But I see no reason to want 1/2". Grade 8 3/8" are more than strong enough.
I’ve been using Carbon bolts. A couple guys had 3/8 Carbon bolts snap on them. My 3/8” Carbon bolts have never failed but I am considering using 1/2” Carbon bolts for the peace of mind.

Have patience. You may be pleasantly surprised soon.I would buy a 1/2 inch version for this very reason.
