Can I give this post a double like? He’s running his drill in REVERSE.
See his video. He needs to run the cordless drill in FORWARD. I guarantee it will work.

I read his post and replied without watching his vid. Youtube suck up data, so I seldom go to Youtube unless I am around wifi.I noticed it immediately when he started to drill. I had to rub my eyes to see if I was seeing things. I went back and watched it again and confirmed my suspicions. Then I watched the rest of the video and he went into slow speed and you can clearly see the auger going into the tree instead of going out of the tree as he comments that it isn’t evacuating at all.
All I can hope for is that he’s from south of the equator. Lol
I hope he watched for responses before he sends the bit back in.

Actually I've run it both ways... just to make sure that very thing did not happen, but yes in the video I put it in reverse because as you can see the bit got stuck in the tree, and i wanted to see if it would back out the shavings and then recommence to drill better. But for giggles I will go and try again for the 5th or six time. As you will see, the opposite direction is worse. I think it's the drill even though 20v is underpowered . After trial and elimination. But new to this bolt thing, might be missing something... I note that it does remove shaving initially better but gets stalled quicker as well. Thanks for the help.
****, if smartass was money you boys would be rich..... hope you all watched the second video as well. Right direction now and?
Dude, have you ever used a drill before?****, if smartass was money you boys would be rich..... hope you all watched the second video as well. Right direction now and? And yes the bit goes in 1/4 of the way I went in... and I put a bolt in it and it tore right out with just hand strength. It does not and has not ever went in like the hand drills full length. I want something secure as I am north of 275 lbs.
I watched the second video although it’s kind of hard to see anything. When you drill in forward direction I see it biting and I see chips start to come but then you stop. Keep drilling. 20v is plenty of power. There was no sound on the video so I can’t tell if your cordless is ratcheting out or what. But the reason the bit pulls out hard is because it’s engaging the wood (drilling). If you keep twisting it around like that to get it out your going to bust off the tip, then it will be useless. Yes it is ratcheting right from the start.... yes I am afraid of stripping it out as I use it for other projects. It just spins i put my weight into and it does not go any further than what you see in video. I have to move it around to get it out of tree otherwise it is stuck like folks were seeing with some of the treehopper hand drill problems.
" Dude, have you ever used a drill before" Are you going to leave any constructive comments? I don't want to ruin my drill.... so I am being cautious.

Ok my drill is 20v craftsman that has now been used 3x I got the treehopper bit and it is not any better that the first one for depth needed primary species I've tried to drill on, Box Elder, Cottonwood, Pine same results gumming up tip, no boring bast certain length. I anticipate someone noting drill may not be up to par, but I would think it would be with good batteries and little use :
Is it a 3/8" bit? How easily do bolts slide in and out? Treehooper uses 10mm (or is it 12mm) bits so bolts are easier to install and remove. For my bit for a drill I went to Lowe’s and bought an Irwin speed bore bit and a standard spade wood bit and two 1/4 washers marked my depth and welded them on.
