Trotlines

Bowfin are a much maligned fish. If they are skinned and cleaned by wiping down with paper towels with NO water, and cooked the same day, they are excellent table fare.

Our family has eaten them for decades and placed them before guests at our table that had no clue what they were eating, with rave reviews.
That is disgusting.....

Maybe they are different where u live but here they are the nastiest meat u ever saw. The meat is like gelatinous and smells foul

We call them choupic in Louisiana. I’ve ate them before. If you ice them, they turn to mush. We cut the tail and bleed them out and then fillet and fry fresh. It’s ok. I throw them back but have ate them before.

Go sit in the corner and think about what you just said.

No such thing as venison scraps! Get a pressure cooker and a smoker, and est everything but the blow in a doe.

Tell that to the a holes at the processor that did a piss poor job at my first deer two years ago. I almost vowed to never eat deer again the meat was so awful. Thankfully I was reassured after processing my own deers this year but I still had skunked meat in the freezer from before. So back to my question.....

Anyway I baited 30 hookswith some bloody freezer dried cube steak. Can’t do any worse then the live blue gill and cut blue gill I did last week.

I think about any meat would do fine. I know they'll eat hot dogs and chicken fine.

Skunked again. All bait gone. There is a possibility that someone ran my line. Not likely but not impossible.

Last night....
