Truck build

It's gonna end up much taller than I want unfortunately. A body mount won't allow for a thru the frame shackle. The truck side shackle bushing gonna have to be under the frame and then use some shorty shackle to keep the truck from being lifted super high in the air. The axle is set up for a 32" center to center frame and my frame is 36 c2c. Next step is torch off the axle truss and get the leaf springs bolted on

I'm surprised u ain't eyeballing that second Dana 60 in the pic.....factory 95 f350. Bolts into ur truck with factory brackets

Getting some of the truss torched off. My BFF and I did some parts consolidation and I have what I need to build a radius arm and panhard bar suspension and after some more measurements to verity I may scrap the leaf spring suspension so I don't have to lift up the truck so tall. The rear will be pretty simple. I just have to have the front end set and at ride height with the big tires on so I know how tall to make the new spring perchScreenshot_20240105-185824~2.png

Pretty confident leaf spring front suspension has been scrapped....laid out the frame and spring mounts and the radius arms from an old build should work much better for keeping the truck from being lifted a mile high

I need to buy a rod end and some misalignment spacers and it should be getting close to tear down and rebuild.
Caster angle 3 degrees

They've been modified once and ran on a truck.... Modifying again too have a new life. This welds to the axle tube and the radius arms attach to it with urethane bushings. Screenshot_20240111-105008~2.pngScreenshot_20240111-105024~2.png

I need spacers for my steering that are beefy and an ID for a 3/4 bolt...DOM tubing is real expensive so I use some structural pipe and manipulate the 3/4 pipe to sleeve inside 1" pipe. The inside weld makes it a little bit of a booger and the OD of the smaller pipe needs shaving down a C hair.... Couple plug welds and weld the ends should be plenty for what this truck gonna do...I'm gonna wheel it hard but im not ashamed to take a bypass on the extreme stuffScreenshot_20240111-105057~2.png

I'd prefer to use steel plate but I don't have anymore and not buying any either....imagine the C channel is my C channel frame. This is the start of the panhard bar frame side bracket. All boxed and strong Screenshot_20240112-131058~2.pngScreenshot_20240112-131103~2.png

The axle panhard attachment gonna be a boxed tower. I don't know the height yet so I make it long. Both brackets got the adjustable mounting holes. Use the hole that's needed and trim the bracket if neededScreenshot_20240112-131107~2.png

After payday I order up the last few remaining parts I still need. I probably end up needing more stuff but I can't think of what it is just yet

Yes.... These parts might be some of the last pieces to be cut on the old plasma table. We bought a new 1 and just waiting for some time to remove the old table.
The old plasma table is for sale if anyone wants to buy it.

You are a welding / fabricating beast. This is awesome. Thanks for sharing all this. I enjoy seeing how this all comes together. Making something outta nothing.

Probably needs to go in the "shame" thread but I haven't had much desire to go out hunting much since the 4x4 project really started moving along.....however, when the trucks finished up I can expand into some of the wma that I've been staying out of for fear of getting stuck.

They look machined, very impressive!

Out of curiosity more than necessity, what are you wanting for the table? My neighbor has one, that I can use as needed.

They want 3k.... that would include 4x8 table, gantry, computer, about 1k worth of consumables, 80 amp plasma machine.....the kicker is the the plasma is 3 phase power. It's the whole system minus the exhaust

I've had some overheating issues recently. After a longer interstate/highway run and a pull into a drive thru or something similar with no air flow at idle or the other night in traffic cause of a wreck temps getting way to hot. I shut it down and allowed to cool and all is well but I need to fix the issue....I noticed a small coolant leak at the thermostat housing and replaced the t-stat and gasket, verified the water pump pumping and got it diagnosed down the the radiator/water pump fan clutch. I've owned lots of vehicles with a thermally controlled fan but never had 1 fail. Here's a good video explaining/showing how it works. Skip to 9:09 and u see how it works

I purposely got it hot in the driveway this afternoon after work and after shutting the engine off, popping the hood, and spinning the fan by hand it is not locked up and just free spinning not moving any air across the radiator... I fix it this weekend

I need to cut 8 plates for suspension brackets and the parts for the steering need to show up....it's getting close

If u bothered to watch that whole video u seen the 460 fan clutch bolts on but on the 300 it threads onto water pump shaft and u supposedly need to rent or buy a special tool but who's got the time and money for all that?.... Not me

U just need to keep the pump shaft stationary while unthreading the fan clutch... Between that big strap wrench and the spanner wrench I just made should be an easy job
