Update on my wellness Mentally and Physically

I said the same thing until severe PTSD and depression and alcoholism brought me and my life to its knees. 2 treatments of ayahuasca and a year or so to work on myself and I haven’t drank, smoked or been depressed in almost 8 years. I have so many brothers that were on the verge of deletion and now they are living their best lives due to the “rewiring” psychedelic treatment gives. I’m afraid the war on drugs has brainwashed prior generations to think all drugs are bad. We know better now. They aren’t for everyone and I wouldn’t suggest this unless it’s a last resort but you can’t argue the results of what MAPs has done with PTSD and drug addiction treatment along with other psychedelic treatment entities. Just my .02. We all go through periods in life and I can tell you there are times where the light at the end of the tunnel seems as though it will never manifest. But it does without fail. Head up, keep moving forward and doors open naturally, as always stay positive, put positivity into your daily life even when you seem you can’t and it will come back 10 fold. The same is true for negativity, be careful which wolf you feed.

It’s amazing and sometimes the fix is like flipping a light switch.VETS.org has partnered with Stanford University tracking the effects on TBI/CTE victims. The results are nothing short of miraculous. Not to mention what it does for depression, anxiety and addiction.

Agreed and as a success story myself I preach it always.

Hey brother, thank you for giving us an inside view of your struggles. I’m an active duty military chaplain in large part because I have lost friends who died by suicide when I was enlisted decades ago… and I want to help people today. By sharing your experience, you are helping me help others.
I’m traveling now, so I will only get to read this every now and then, but I appreciate you and I am praying for you. May the Lord be with you.
Thank you my freind and Thank you for your kind words , To be honest I have been really reading the book alot and it truely does ease my suffering and I am also going through a program that teaches how to deal or cope
Please be safe on your travels and Thanks again

Struggles are real we all have them.
Start reducing meals sizes. Stop using the big plates and go to the small pie plates. Don’t double stack of it fits it goes. In about 6 months you can start any diet you want. Just reduce portions. The weight will start to drop. When it stalls that’s when a diet starts. Exercise? Lift weights, hold off the cardio for a possibly a year. Building muscle burns fat faster than cardio will. Get the weight down so it’s not so hard on those joints. Then cardio can come in to play. Don’t damage your body to do this.
Good luck brother!

Hey Rob, I was mushroom hunting - turned geez I bet there are deer and turkey here! No shrooms but I did bump a decent size deer, seen a turkey and heard several gobbles, same bird I think.

Anyway I couldn't help but think of you when I bumped that one. I asked and you told me he'll be back " because it worked" :)

More importantly, How you doin' Rob? Looks like it's only been a few weeks but I hope you're well! I also hope we can be a safe and friendly place for you to share. I'm not worth a darn at this sort of thing. But you're not alone, people care about you brother.

I think you said turkey opens 5-1 for you, are you out? Are you seeing action?

I want to echo what @Horn said. It’s really great that this is a safe space for sharing real life struggles. I encourage you @Robert loper to keep up the good work of being real, asking for support and being willing to work for positive growth. While most of us here may not be equipt to offer mental health advice we can and will be good listeners and share our struggles and the things we have done to navigate through them.

Have you had any small victories lately that you’d like to share with us?

If you hate it then going an hour 3 days a week will make you miserable. Instead do 10-15 min a day everyday, it’s much easier on the body and much easier to stay consistent. With the studies we have now and what we know now about physical activity and it’s benefits on ALL things of the body, mental health, neurological, cardio vascular, all cause mortality no happy pill or NSAID or SSRI on the market or has ever been on the market can hold a candle to what just 5-10 min a day of physical activity can do for you. I guess what I’m saying is it’s 100% net positive across the board internally and externally so maybe hating it is a bit much lol if you do anything at all I’d say physical activity is bar none the best thing you can do for yourself. And that goes for anyone and everyone.

I should have worded that a bit differently. i dont mind working out at all. It is a therapeutic thing.
i used to be in the gym a ton when i was younger.
i dont hate the gym. I dislike the whole crowd a gym
The whole vibe it oozes.
Physical activity is really not my problem. I am super active. I am a huge Tinkerer.
I tinker with everything. I think thats why i fell in love with woodworking and handyman things.
diet, my medications i was on for years, and a few wrong paths i was put on is my biggest problems.
i am usually a very kind person and at times easily talked into things.
Especially when i am at a low point.
Honestly my biggest thing is i need to take control of my world , my life, and myself on my terms and my way.

Yeahh I figured it wasn’t true hate. I understand also the gym place has always had a bad wrap for it’s environment, it’s what prompted me to have a home gym and I’ve never looked back lol totally get it, after my divorce everything spiraled and I had to take a step back and reground and realign myself before moving forward, it’s a process but worth it all in the end. Just stick with everything you’re doing it all seems good to go!

I've been going to gyms since I was 16 years old. (Getting close to 40yrs now.) And I can tell you for sure no one is judging you. Almost everyone in there is is sub conscious about something with their body. That's why we are there.

For me, first, I have to work out to keep my arthritis at bay and not come a sack of concrete. Losing battle but at least I can prolong it.

Second, I don't look good with man boobs! There again, losing battle but at least I can prolong it.

Gold's gym has a saying on the door that is so true. It says something like 'Remember just making it here is half the battle.' And that's so on point.

Also, I look at my hunting as part of my workout too. Not every day I walk a mile up and down hills on uneven terrain.

Wish you the best.

As I’ve heard over and over again from trusted sources, “showing up” is 98% of life. Praying for you still! Sounds like you’re on the right track. Don’t forget the Word for strength and healing.
