Vehicle organization/preparedness

I'm usually setup to hunt and camp in both my trucks .one with a slide in camper, one with a topper What sometimes throws me off is if I jump in a buddies truck for a hunt. My weapon comes in the house with me on non camping hunts

Truly impressive job with that set up

Thank you. Man, there’s little storage cubbies everywhere, places to hang stuff, hidden compartments, pop up shelves, a kitchen drawer, slide out tables . Hopefully next spring I’ll have a kayak to keep me on the water instead of rebuilding this thing. But it was fun and i learned a lot.

Retired navy bomb tech…you don’t even wanna see my OCD RutRunner. Doing a Senior Deer Tour this year, so I’ll be living and hunting out of it.I’m sure i went overboard, but thats just how my brain works
Man I thought I had it bad. Your OCD is worthy of journal articles in JAMA. Nice job.

I think it just keeps my brain engaged now that I’m now longer in the military or teaching for DHS. It’s a looong time between end of season and beginning of the next. Access to the right tools and YouTube just took over (luckily before lumber prices soared).old habits die hard i suppose. 16 years as a down range operator certainly brings out the need for consistency. Lol. who knows what it will look like this time next year,

I enjoy seeing this set-up and the thought you put into it more than I care to admit. We take a couple of family trips a year down to crescent beach, next time we are down there I would love to meet up and see this thing you have built

Anytime, my frien. That’s close by, we;ll get some fresh shrimp and cold beer

Here’s a few more pics
Love the "Dupont Dynamite" box face! As a side note I have some buddies who fish a tournament every year under the team name "Dupont". The they wear shirts that have the phrase "Dupont Spinners" on the front and "Dynamite Works" on the back. :tearsofjoy:

Yeah, after every underwater demo shot we picked up enuff “debris” for chow that night!! Dupont fishing! You either fish or cut bait

..how to u guys keep ur vehicle organized? Do u load and unload ur stuff each hunt

pretty much all my hunting is leave in the morning/ home at night, less than 1½ drive. If I was traveling/camping this way of doing it isn't geared toward that....

Same here, about a 45 min drive to hunt after work. A few years ago I did a 180 degree change in my hunt set up. Used to haul around a bunch of stuff and in theory had a use for it all. In reality it was just a bunch of crap I didn't need. Now pretty much just hunt with the bare minimum and couldn't be happier.

That looks DIY and very well done. I want to do something with my 4runner as well. You got the plans for that lay out?
I kid you not, when I saw @Islandshooter ’s yota and how organized and neat his set up was in person, it was shockingly good! Everything has a place and is perfectly suited and fit for function! Hands down the best huntin buggy I have ever seen!

Lived and hunted out of it for three weeks this season (Ohio and Nebraska). Worked great for what I needed. Not as much room as a truck bed, but good enuff for me. Lessons learned- too much clothing (civilian and hunting), too much backup hunting gear, and I need a four sided kitchen fly tent. Would love to re-do it, but the wife would prolly object! Guess it’s time for a off season new hobby…flcanopystalker, wanna teach me how to sew stuff?!!

No plans, just eyeballed it. But I can take some measurements if you want. Biggest thing for me was to maintain the factory slide out tray for the bow. If I decided to do it again, I would prolly just use that as a work table and drop the platform down the 6 or 8 inches it takes up. More head room. Lemme know if you want more details/pics…my season is over so I’ve got nothing going on

No pictures but here’s my setup:
8 years as a corpsman with the Marines and rubbing elbows with the go faster crowd taught me to always be prepared and keep your trash organized. I’m not as bad as @Islandshooter but I can’t stand crap everywhere. During off season the back of my sequoia stays bare as I use it for wheel’n with the young’ns and ranch chores.
When October comes it go time. I have all my gear broke down into go bags and totes. Small 1’x1’x1’ cube tote has first aide and field dressing kit. I have a Scentlok 8k 36”x24”x24” large duffel that all of my clothes are in, and a cabelas scent free 24”x14”x14” bag that my saddle, pack and small “back and forth” items go in. Bow goes in a hard sided Plano case. I have a cargo cover for the rear cargo area. October hits, the rear seats come out, the Scentlok and first aide tote go in the rear and the cargo cover goes in place and they stay there until January. My bow and smaller bag go back and forth with me to the house so I can make adjustments, refill the pack, etc. with the cargo cover clipped in place and tinted windows you can’t even tell anything is back there. On top of all this of course I have a tote that has self recovery/rescue gear for the rig, but I’m really not too worried as I hunt pretty close to civilization and hunt a ranch and landscaping company that have access to equipment

I keep everything in two totes in my truck. One tote with climbing gear. One tote with hunting clothes. A bow and a milk gun are always in my truck too. Can put the totes in the bed of the truck if I need the space for more seating.
