What does anyone like to add for flavor or vitamins to their water bottles

Just water for me (in various size gatorade bottles because they are free and pretty durable/don't make noise like the modern-thin-as-pantyhose water bottles). I wish they made edible antifreeze because it stinks having your water freeze while sitting in the cold all day.

I have recently started drinking the wilderness athlete hydrate & recover Arizona peach flavor and it is really good. Doesnt have the funky after taste a lot of powders do. The other that the wife and I drink is Redmond Relyte blue berry lemonade. Have to mix it half strength though or it is a little too salty for me.

I carry a Nalgene bottle in a molle bottle pouch strapped to my pack. I usually carry some sort of flavor packets in the pouch with it. I’ve thought about getting a Sawyer Mini to go in with it also.

Been using these lately, I like the flavor and feel like they actually do hydrate better than water alone. Also like the energy drinks he has if you’re into that sort of thing.

Might have to try that blue raspberry.

They do make edible antifreeze, they call it Everclear, lol.

So u guys carry separate containers for the mixed drink or just mix it in the main/only container?

If u mixing in ur only container what happens if u needed clean water to flush out ur eye or something like that?......maybe makes more sense to bring ur mix packet and small collapsible bladder/pouch...... Only reason I bring it up is I have had to use my drinking water to clean pine bark out of my eye and it woodda sucked using Gatorade

Maybe some eye drops would be a better answer? Cuts down on bulk.

Use some Vodka, it won't freeze and if it does you won't care.

I usually drink my water straight and unflavored. But if I'm in the BWCA and drinking filtered lake water, or boiled surface water, it can get unpalatable. I like the sugarfree Arizona and Great Value powder pouches at Walmart. The sugarfree ones don't gunk up my Nalgenes as much.

So I really only use these on BWCA trips; on these occasions I bring as many Nalgenes as I can to store water, and reserve one for drinking from. That one gets the flavor additives. The others can be used for cleaning, or making tea or coffee or cooking or whatever. It can be a bit of a pain to transfer water to between Nalgenes in a bobbing canoe but oh well.

On the topic... my drinking Nalgene has probably 50' of duct tape and electrical tape spooled on to it. At one point I knew what volumetric measurements lined up with what edge of the tape but have since forgotten.
