Weight Loss Surgery

You have any questions just ask. I usually keep it simple and just do a protein and vegetable. I do have a few recipes though that are good. I also do intermittent fasting usually. When I work I don’t eat anything until I’m home from work. Sometimes on the weekends I’ll eat breakfast though.

I understand intermittent fasting but if I don't eat all day I'm like a Grizzly Bear that hasn't eaten after a four month hibernation. When I used to really watch my weight I was always hungry and people tell me that its good to feel hungry. I think it sucks to feel hungry.

Honestly once you become fat adapted it’s not a big deal. It’s pretty easy. You will not feel like you are starving.

Ok I could lose a few too and like BigFoot552, I fluctuate around those exact same weight ranges summer to winter, winter to summer. My issue is I weigh that much and I'm only 5'8" tall on a good day. My build is stocky so I have muscle mass in my legs so a large part of my weight is that but it is also my beer gut. I have been blessed that at my 52 years, I still take absolutely no medication(s) whatsoever and I do have a decently active lifestyle. My problem is my day job is at a desk and cumulatively, that "desk jockey" time starts to pack the midriff with a gut that is embarrassing and I just want to be in better shape overall. My concern with KETO is cholesterol and the resulting arterial sclerosis. Now my research on KETO is about 'nill and because I have not done the research, please do not misinterpret my concerns with cholesterol with being a bash on Keto. It is not whatsoever, It is just hard for me to believe that eating bacon and other high fat foods does any good. High protein, high veggie, high fruit intake I understand and no complex carbs I also get, but I do not get the high fat stuff. I know many who swear by it and are doing and looking great. But, also, realistically (and I still have two younger kids 6th and 4th grades) and they have no weight problems, It just isn't realistic for our home to not have carbs. Anyway, I just do not want cement filled arteries at 75. Something I have started to consider is GOLO? Has anybody researched this?

I thought my cholesterol levels would go up being on keto, but after the first 8 weeks and having lost 30 lbs at that point I went to the doctor for my normal yearly checkup/physical and I had them do the normal bloodwork scans

Cholesterol was lower than it had been in the last 5 years and now in “normal” range
Blood pressure was down and in normal range as well

They were about to put me on meds for both and the doc and nurses were all surprised at how well it works. The key is to balance it out
Yes ur eating more bacon and fatty foods, but remember in ketosis ur body is now burning those fats real time. I do intermittent fasting as well so my food I consume only betweeen 10am and 4 pm so my body is burning it up.
Also, one would think it’s unrealistic to be successful on keto with kids because of all the carb loaded foods they eat , but we have switched our kids to low carb options
Cereal is now bacon and eggs
Chips now pork rinds
Coke is now Zevia (soooo good)
List goes on
They’re younger than us so are generally more resilient
As Americans we center around food. We gotta realize we’re just topping off our bodies’ fuel tank when we eat

Keto rocks. Went full keto April of 2018. Went from 225-230 to 165. Still eat keto. The first 3-4 weeks totally suck. Once you get through that it’s easy. People ask me about my diet. I respond it’s not a diet it’s just the way I eat. The key with keto is absolutely zero cheating. Like others have stated. Getting your fat intake high is crucial.

Honestly the best thing about keto is it makes your package look bigger.

I was like this
U have to decide to commit
If u want to lose weight u will fight the cravings
If not , I have found that chugging water will actually make ur hunger go away
Ur stomach may get a little upset,but let’s be honest it’s better than Kodiak hunger

When ur on keto u should be drinking at least 8 bottles of water a day. I drink 3/4 to 1 gallon a day

The hunger is all in ur head
We need to eat to live .....not live to eat

Before starting this I could easily slam 2 large pizzas by myself

I know if I was to eat a pizza it would be a downward spiral and I’d eat another large and the cravings would be worse

No cheat days
U will be fine

I would say for true keto ingredients also matter. Just because it fits in your calorie or carb limits for the day does not mean it’s keto. I try to avoid those ingredients but I feel unless I eat every meal at home I’ll likely still be eating some of those ingredients I just do my best to avoid them. Simple example is I make my own mayonnaise with olive oil and avocado oil to avoid the vegetable oils in almost all mayonnaise.

If you eat carbs you get hungry more often. If you don't eat them you be hungry less often. Don't eat if you are not hungry. Your body will use the fat for fuel. If you are hungry, eat all the sausage you can fit down and you will not gain any weight. If you then eat carbs your weight will jump overnight due to edema (water retention).

I use 1/2 cup each of avocado oil and extra light tasting olive oil. Do not ever use regular olive oil. I could not put enough ranch seasoning in it to make it edible. Lol. So
1 cup of preferred oil
one egg
1/4 tsp salt
a small bit of Dijon mustard 8g
1 tsp red wine vinegar
and I either do 1 tsp lemon juice or in place of that I’ve done one packet of tru-lime or tru-lemon.


Put it all in a wide mouth canning jar and push immersion blender to the bottom. As it turns to mayo slowly lift it to incorporate all the oil. If it’s done right it will instantly turn to mayo. In order for it to work with an immersion blender the container must be just slightly bigger diameter than the head of the immersion blender. I tried it once in a Pyrex measuring cup and it did not work. If you try it let me know how you like it. You can always adjust to your taste.

I actually do most of this by weight. Get yourself a kitchen scale if you don’t have one. This way I can put it all in canning jar and not dirty different measuring devices. I do measure the 1/4 tsp of salt though as it’s so little that it’s harder to weigh. I’ve got a dozen or so of the plastic lids for canning jars at home so after I’ve made it I screw on a lid and put in the refrigerator. The only thing to clean up when I’m done is the immersion blender. Below is my recipe by weight if you have a scale.

Keto Mayo
110 gr avocado oil
110 gr extra light tasting olive oil
1 egg
1/4 tsp salt
6 gr lemon juice
6 gr red wine vinegar
8 gr dijon mustard

Most Mayo is keto friendly I think

For the same reason we hunt our own food I kikda want to try to make mayo and visit that side of self sufficiency

Dukes is sugar free but if you’re trying to avoid the vegetable oils it’s not the best choice. It depends on how picky you are being with ingredients. I do eat dukes when I’m at my property as it’s not very convenient to make my own there however I do try to avoid it. Even a lot of the avocado oil or olive oil mayo that you can buy has a lot of vegetable oil in it. I do my best to avoid all questionable ingredients but when I’m away from home it’s very hard to do.

I see you mentioned breakfast. I’ll share a couple other options. I don’t do it often but you can make a pork rind cereal that is similar to Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I don’t have the recipe I just google keto pork rind cereal if I do make it. I wasn’t a big cereal eater before keto but this is actually surprisingly good. I just eat it with almond or macadamia milk. If you eat it without milk it tastes similar to a churro. I also do a keto “oatmeal“ not really oatmeal but close enough. My wife and daughter eat it several times a week for breakfast.


Keto oatmeal
1 cup almond milk 260 gr
1/2 cup almond flour 48 gr
4 Tbsp coconut flakes 21gr
2 Tbsp flax meal 13 gr
2 Tbsp chia seeds 24 gr
1 Tbsp monkfruit 15 gr
1 tsp cinnamon 2 gr
1 pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Heat in a pan on stove until it thickens to your liking.

Well, day 4 of Keto today. Bad news last night, didn't sleep worth a ****. All I could think about was saddle hunting. Ended up buying a Kong duck, oval caribiner, predator pack, and the no sew predator pack mods. I blame it all on Keto. Lmao. On the bright side, the diet has been going well.
