Since I switched to xbow this year it’s an entirely new setup for me, I’m excited!
Barnett headhunter arrows, 400gr
QAD Exodus or G5 Megameat broadheads, 125gr
Ethics 50gr inserts
Barnett lighted nocks, gr unk
But that puts me at 575gr weight give or take.

You're going to laser right through anything with that setup.

Right now, the season is a month out :coldsweat: , lol. Kidding, very much looking forward to it!! But not set in stone:

27.5' 300 spine airstrike, super Sabres, trifecta 150. May put halo nocks in and switch to 125, probably trifecta or exodus.

Solution SS a little under 70 pounds, 28" , performance. Flirting with that 270 fps lol :grinning:

Honestly some of the heavy crossbow setups make me want to put an bolt through a deers shoulder on purpose just for data. Like a 550 TAW from a crossbow sounds like a possible pass through breaking both shoulders.

I purposely try and go through a shoulder on the way through the vitals no matter the bow I use lol compound goes through both like butter every time even on hogs, recurve will sometimes go through both but always goes through 1, haven’t shot a hog with this recurve yet, and crossbow is same or better than compound through everything like butter.

28.25" 4mm axis 250's w titanium outsert, 2.75 tac driver vanes, and 125 Exodus swept blades = 472 grains out of a 71/29.25 bow @ 286 FPS. I've been very happy with this combo.

Maybe I should re word my statement. I want to know what a 550+ grain crossbow bolt wont go through!!!

What’s your TAW?

What’s your TAW?
453.4 with standard airstrike components, 3 super Sabres and the trifecta 150. ( about 190gr total up front) If I put zingers on and a halo nock it works out to still be right around 425/450 depending on the head but keeps FOC up a little

I’m using the same arrows as last year 27” C2C, Victory VForce Elite .300 spine shafts with 100gr. Brass inserts, 100gr. Tip (haven’t decided what yet) standard victory nicks but trying 4 fletch zingers with a 3 degree right helical. TAW 476gr. Getting 248fps at my 27” DL. Same
Bow with 373 gr. Arrows yields 283fps. But my bow is louder and I just like the smoothness of the heavier arrow rig. Broadhead tested again this am at 25 and 40 yards.IMG_4178.jpegIMG_4179.jpeg

Broadhead testing at 20 yards. Working on getting out to 50.

How far do you all broadhead test out to?
Although I’ll never shoot an animal at my practicing distance I practice everything out to 100 yds minus my recurve and crossbow lol never had a problem with my broadheads since I went to these bloodsport gravediggers never tuned or messed with and they fly like field points.

As far as you feel comfortable but I don’t typically have the hunting setups where I need a lot of shooting distance but it’s a great way to understand how your arrows are flying when practicing at longer distances. On my current setup I have a Spott Hogg Fast Eddie with a dual pin up slider set at 25 and 40 yards. For years I’ve used a single pin slider and just keep it at a distance where I can point on within about 30yards and be in the kill zone. Last year I had an open field opportunity st a very nice buck at last light and he chose to zig instead of zag and it was my only chance last season. If I would have just practiced and had a pin for another 20 yards I would have been in the game.
