That first one is the one you really earn. After that it gets easier each time. There weren't may deer in central Illinois when I started bow hunting in 1965 and I hunted eleven years before I took my first doe. It was 126 lbs. field dressed and I can still remember that shot today. I've taken well over 100 deer since and that one stands out as my best hunt. You will get there if you pay attention to your mistakes and learn from them. That is the most important lesson to development of your deer hunting skills. You will hear a lot of tales from the experts but what you learn yourself is what develops you, Good Hunting, Buddy!

Hopefully being able to get my "target" buck and being able to move the F out of Texas so I can have good hunting for next season lol

Im looking forward to get my adrenaline pumping as any deer comes creeping in silently next to me in my tree. I am also ready to put my woodsman ship and off season study of maps into play to see if I have improved. Lastly im looking forward to recording more hunts, and harvesting my first deer with a saddle.

Isn't Texas a big buck state?! Soooo much land and resources. I know people that travel there specifically for big bucks...

Oh yeah there are some absolute MONSTERS in the petting z- I mean ranches here...but you only get those big bucks for big $$$

There's some decent deer and hunting on TX public land too to be fair but all in all the state isn't the best for hunting unless you're into pay to play, which is fine but not my thing.
