What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

Set a few cameras this morning before the rain. Hoping to get on a this really nice buck on my buddies 85 acre farm. Hard place to hunt with very little woods and only tree lines etc

put out two presets for rope climbing.
It did not go very well. Likely took 7 hours for two presets. I had a hard time with a branch which would not allow for the climb rope to pass through very well. I ended up putting up a hook into the tree.

The other tree did not have any branches so I used some extra rope with a figure 8 bight. That did not allow the quick link nor the tag end with my climbing hitch through.

Still learning, but I did get a couple of mock scrapes done and put out a couple of cams. I also ordered the treehopper drill to set bolts as presets.

With 12 days left until my local opener I went through my gear and got it all set. Tomorrow I’ll go through my clothes and get that set. And spend the rest of the time continuing to fling arrows.

I ordered an Eberlestock F1 and 2 batwing pouches to use as my saddle pack and hopefully to pack meat out instead of dragging.

Have you looked at the H&H mini compression bandage? It’s about 1/2 the size of the one you’re carrying.

I carry that and compressed gauze on my ankle and a Sof-T wide in my pocket daily.

I did a short 2TC climb out back this morning. It's like riding a bicycle. I just went straight back to it. No hiccups. I haven't been practicing as much as I was earlier in the year due to first a broken wrist and more recently a very aggravated tendon in my knee from running (Started running for my health and ended up hardly able to walk for a week.)

Today was the first day I was allowed in to scout on the military base I hunt. Checked out two areas from last year that were torn up with buck sign. Basically both spots had nothing worth while except jumping what I believe was a buck in his bed and finding a balloon approx. 10ft from it. Will check back in later in the year on both spots.

What I did find was an amazing area loaded with deer sign (mostly trails, droppings and tracks) coming into an area with 3 massive Oak trees loaded with acorns. Saw roughly 5 deer and a small buck still in velvet in this area as I just sat there to glass and observe for maybe half hour (around 10am). This is on my list to hunt early on in the year for a nice doe. Believe it has potential for a buck but not counting on it.

I have not. I carry that one because it’s what I was issued at one point or another. I have a few lying around I’ll look at. I don’t really think about it much for now season, I mostly carry it for firearms. Up in the mountains of North Central PA most everyone ground hurts ya during rifle season and lead is flying so I like to keep it close at hand then.

Paracord wrapped my bike basket and got a nice blister. Sprayed my early season hunting clothing with Permethrin. Played around with gear locations in my new Eberlestock Bandit H31. Practiced single stick climbing and rappelling again! Taped a couple metal spots on my platform to reduce noise. 11 days.....

I did find two Zfold quick clot wound packing dressings in my vest from work so k through those in my pack as well.

Went to pull a dead cell cam.. tried sneaking in and out quick bumped an at least 4, possible 6 point, albeit a tiny 4/6 on the way in. Went to scout an adjacent area. Eyes on another, mature but couldn't catch the head, found one track with dew claws but I suspect a doe. Heard as many as 3 more but couldn't see them so unsure.

Only one move but tried my x-Wing with an aider. Worked great and will be trying a full climb soon, fingers crossed.
