What did you do today?

I used my new saddle and DRT climbing skills to get into an old crab apple tree to try and prune some big dead branches off. The tree is 200 years old and not doing great.

Wow, what made you choose DRT? I am kind of interested in something that does not involve sticks.

Got some time in the workshop today and made a DIY draw board. I’ve been wanting to build one for a while to check cam timing and sync, measure draw length and check draw weight. This was a very easy project for $30.

I also knocked out a DIY back band from materials I had on hand. Got inspiration for this build from a Tethrd gen 2 back band video.

I finally cleaned up & organized my hunting room. Created a spot to build a work bench & get setup for projects. Excited to get some stuff done. Added a bunch of shelving & organized the laundry room for my wife & cut down a tree. I’m planning on crushing this honey do list over the next few weeks...... only drawback is trying to finish projects w/o spending $$$

I watched all the Ny saddle hunter videos and DRT seemed like a good fit for me. I am kind of old fashioned,i like simple things. DRT at its basic level just involves a couple of knots and some rope and a throw ball. This was only my third climb but i feel more comfortable with it quicker than i thought.
I also don't think it is physically hard, you just have to get your blakes hitch in the right spot and figure the technique out.
Another bonus is the built in rappelling.
This week i plan to use my platform for the first time and start shooting my bow out of the saddle for the first time.

Yes. That is a Harken 150. I didn't remove the button or even drill holes.
I just used a small chainsaw file to make small reliefs on both holes that come on the stick, to allow the cleat bits to go thru square. I used the template provided with the cleat to drill holes into an 1/8" aluminum backing plate and sandwiched the stik. I have a dozen climbs on it and it works great. The beast bites good yet disengages readily.

Can you please post a few pics of how you mounted the Harken 150? This is a pretty good description but it would be great to see pictures with it as well. Thank you!

I made them teenage boys help me with outdoor spring cleanup and then we...me, the boys and the wife unit got the recurves out and had a backyard archery competition. Turns out the wife unit has been hustling me in the shooting department!

Once you file the upper rim and the lower rim on both holes, you add the plate on bottom and bolt together.
I didn't remove the button so the stick is available to use otherwise.
Let me know if the chicken scratch makes any sence.

I make my own 3 under tabs and used one of my plates in a moment of need. I have several blanks..
I will trim the bolts one of these days.

By the way, this thing grips 3/16 amsteel as you can see.
If I was starting fresh I would use 1/4 " or some other cord just a little bigger.
I probably will save my amsteel one and use up some of my 8mm accessory cord.

Awesome, thanks for the pictures/ illustration. I'm piecing some things together and will be assembling a new stick once I have everything gathered. The Harken came in the mail yesterday. I plan to use 6mm rope but will jump up to 8 if I feel like it works better.
