What did you do today?

Finally got to the root of my trucks check engine light, replaced a sensor in the exhaust system and I can proudly say that my trucks check engine light is off!

Probably the first time in 10 years I have had a truck with no check engine light.

I think all of my parents vehicles ran with a check engine light on growing up. I understand not spending the money to fix something that isn't killing the vehicle, but I have to say I really like a clean dashboard with no check engine or other lights. I replaced an O2 sensor in my seqouia's exhaust system and it cleared the whole dashboard up. Congrats, the truck is looking good.

It's really easy to take the bulb out....
Will you come do it on my wife’s car then? The dealership wanted $500 to replace the bulb and would not take it out after they triggered it replacing a recalled airbag.

I’ll PayPal you face to face goods and services

My grandfather was a mechanic, one day when I was a kid my grandmother was giving him grief for not "fixing her check engine light". He stood up and told me "let's go fix grandma's car" we went outside, took out the dash panel and pulled the light bulb. He told me he'd buy me a soda if I didn't tell grandma what we did. We went back inside and told grandma her car was fixed.

Shame on you! Lying to grammy like that

Got the youngest his first bow. We grabbed some cameras off some land I was scouting and grabbed a milkshake afterwards.

He told me, “Dad, this is the best day ever!” The only way it could be better was if I could see a live dinosaur.”

The form and which eye he’s aiming with is a work in progress, haha.

Today is my last day at work. At 68 years old I am officially retired. I can't wait for this season to get here.

Good for you @rutjr I hope you have a blast this season. Everyone I know who has retired says they're busier now than they ever have been. If I were you I'd get used to telling people the phrase, "I'm in the woods."

That warms my heart. Good for you Dad!!!

Hit the archery shop for some target practice and feedback on my technique.

Then some practice climbs. Wooweee…let’s hope I get the jacked up climbs all out of the way before hunting season cause today was FUBAR. Yikes. I think I made all the mistakes one can make minus falling.
I got down to the bottom of the tree and gave myself a new nickname. “The 40yr old virgin saddle hunter”. It was laughable, but I live to practice another day.

I think I may seriously write out a checklist, read it to myself at the bottom of the tree just so it’s all fresh in my mind and I see it with my eyes. That and I am going to practice visualization of my climb as I fall asleep each night.

Get yourself a small Rite-in-the-Rain notepad and a golf pencil and keep it with you. Then, write down things that worked, what didn't work, etc.

Found 3 brand new rolls of carpet padding on FB marketplace. The listing was almost 6 months old, so the guy was open to the idea of me helping him clear up some storage space. My sunday project will be to make a new archery target. 20210808_155104.jpg

Messed around with various hoist rigs using saddle hunting gear and spend about 30 minutes this evening making a whoopie sling out of 7/64" for my rangefinder. The stock strap was too short if it was on my belt but didn't want a long leash that I couldn't adjust.

Momma and baby were napping and I was reading the peepless pinsight thread and couldn't remember what I do as far as aiming and the string so I decided to get my practice in before season starts....and forgot to pay attention to what I do with the string hahahaha
3 shots and it's time to put it away....I love it when I don't have to mess with anything. I'm fortunate and archery is like riding a bike.
I plan on climbing this weekend to give the gear a once over and shoot a quiver full from up in the tree and I'm ready freddie......gotta.buy my licence and some thermacell juice and I'm all really....
