I built a workbench, a DIY bow cradle to hold my bow while using a bow master press, and organized the little bit of items/ tools I have started to collect and learning how to work on my own bow. It’s something I have always wanted to do, but secretly scared I’m going to mess something up. But, I have to drive 2.5 hrs for a quality shop so I figured bows as good of time as any to start tinkering and learning how to do it myself...

Early this morning shot the target bow for an hour.
Ate some breakfast and went to the range with my saddle and hunting set up.

Where the skys are so blue!
Shot some clays with my dad. Actually shot really well. Was 5 for 5 most magazines. Crossing shots too, not just straight going away like i usually have to settle for when I'm solo. Was happy to see the old man shooting pretty well too. Pain free, he said. Maybe I can find an easy place for us to walk in and ambush some birds.

Took the canoe out with a new light. @swampsnyper talked me into a headlamp, and then he talked me into velcroing it to the bow of the boat. Worked like a charm. Was able to run the river wide-open with confidence. Kill switch, life jacket, nav light....feels good feeling good out there in the fog.

Climbed a tree with bolts for the first time since 2019. I've gotten a bit rusty. Took me 12 minutes to hang my pack and settle in at 15ft. Got to perch on these bad boys...

Gotta say, they're a bit lighter and easier to pack than the ole ambush. Pretty easy on the swamp-stompers too.

Are those bike pedals? That's an interesting idea... I wonder if I could make that work in a public friendly-no drill way...

That's interesting. I'll definitely have to look into something like that. I've been playing with a platform/step design that may or may not work, but that gives me some more ideas.

Went out a scouted some public I haven't been on in years. Some reasonable sign but what I found interesting was this. Someone has put a spring loaded "gong" target on a powerline with a nice hill backstop. The interesting thing to me was that, other than the 30yds to the wet section through the swamp, the next possible dry land to shoot from is over 700yds away by my Huntstand app. That's a poke. Given there were no marks on the freshly painted target either he hasn't shot at it yet or he hasn't been able to hit it.
