Also Im torn between a Waldrop and a Hybrid for the $.

I think i've decided that i'll have a Waldrop for next season. I bought a Summit Chairpack on impulse and that thing is junk. Sloppily made with cheap materials and noisy. I like the concept but would not recommend the Summit chair. The Waldrop is pricier but i'll save some extra pennies for quality. The Summit chair will probably end up in a yard sale or just use it fishing or something.

the welds on my waldrop look like they are bubblegum. It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job of accepting my rear done just fine.

it ain’t gonna win fit/finish points though…

I'm a small guy I was hoping for the JX3 narrow version butttttttttttt......

From what I understand they have buckles that adjust easier and better blackstraps

Can I get just the buckles? dont see them on their site. Anybody know what they are, because this is about the only thing I hate about it.

I reached out to them yesterday about rated buckles to replace my Gen 1 plastic buckles. They said they can put a package together. I think its about $46 plus shipping.

Do they need to be sewn on, or are rhe adjustable both besides? Think the gen 1 plastic ones I have are sewn on on one side....

I don't think they have to be sewn. They said its something I could do. They will do it for you if you ship it to them.

...I didn't like how my non-inline stacking sticks did not pack well with it. The beast sticks look like they pair great with it, but I was committed to my DIY sticks...

I'm surprised this hasn't been reiterated some. I see pics of Beast Sticks neatly packed crosswise and a couple other tidy solutions for certain setups, and then loads of sticks that look like a mess on the hybrid.

Some sticks seem to have an intuitive fit, others...not so much.

Much of what's on the net doesn't inspire confidence in seamless integration. Imo, JX3 could do a better job demonstrating system efficiency than the current blog posting: https://jx3outdoors.com/blog/climbing-stick-attachment-methods-for-the-jx3-hybrid/ .

From looking at those pictures, just go back to your favorite climber at that point. One thing that I dont like about the JX3 is the noise the fork makes against tree. While sitting during practice and while hunting with fork perpendicular for tree, I have tried to slowly stand and back off tree or pivot the fork. Rather than just coming away from tree or pivoting, it abruptly lunges downward and makes a loud metallic squawk against tree as my body weight shifts in the saddle. I also cant figure out tether height to actually allow me to shoot bow 360 or from 1:30-5:30 position. Im not used to shooting sitting down with bow over weakside bridge with straps/backrest in the way.

I have a prototype that’s very similar in style and comfort but weight is dramatically lower and minus all the straps and such. Also could be sold for probably $100 or more CHEAPER!
Tell me more about this prototype please. If you can

if your fork doesn’t come directly away from the tree silently, and drags in either direction amd makes a noise, you don’t have your seat set perpendicular to gravity. To do so takes 25-30 seconds instead of 5-10 to just randomly set it wherever uou land.

why don’t you start a thread about it elsewhere? You’ll only be the fifth person to nail the hybrid concept at a MUCH LOWER weight and sold for MUCH CHEAPER!

look at all those options out there - so many to choose from that folks arent taking the time to give useful criticism about the hybrid….

I’ve had the Gen 2 for over a month now.
I put 40+ miles on it a few weeks ago on an out of state hunt and probably twice that much with weekend hunts (9.5 miles yesterday alone).

Paired with 3 or 4 WE Stepps and a Knaider/Swaider, it’s the most comfortable and robust system I’ve had so far.

The only “issue” I’ve had, which may just be some adjustment I need to make, is that sometimes when I shift my weight, the bottom right corner of the back frame will slip.

I still use the original one, but had john ship me some of the rubber feet like the new ones have. It seems to grip really well and not slip. I also try to get the feet right in front of the back of the frame to create a little more resistance.

I have the same issue with mine, but I can generally tweak the handle of the back slightly to keep it from happening again.

@kyler1945 first sit for me below 20 degrees with a little bit of wind.... after about 2 hours my a$$ was freezing through convection heat loss. The web used to be cozy to about 0. It'd be sweet if there was like a 2mm neoprene seat"bottom" available that snapped into the bottom of the seat(underneath) to reflect some heat and prevent loss. Easy enough to make one myself, but up north this would be applicable. I had wool.pants on, schoeller mid layer, and polypropylene base layer so I was dressed for rhe Temps no problem.

I have a little homemade pad to put down below freezing. Makes a big difference.Neoprene would be a great ideA. Cheap easy and multi use

I made a mistake last year of forgetting about the mesh compressing tight against skin. I hunted a 60* windy day in single layer pant and t shirt. I was shivering uncontrollably after 30-40 minutes sitting down in the shade. Had to move to bad side of tree just to get in sun. Feel pretty silly shivering on a 60* sunny day. Soon as wind died at dark I was fine.
