What gear upgrade (if any) will put more deer in my freezer?

After the basics are covered I would say that gear doesn't kill deer so you aren't going to get much help there. If you have the essentials I would look at upgrading clothing so you are more comfortable while out. That or upgrade your arrow system.
I agree with this.. clothing sure doesn’t kill deer but being comfy and warm, staying longer and hunting harder sure does kill more deer and better clothes definitely help with that!

Lasers work in the dark...
Most the time while using a rangefinder in perfect legal hunting light most rangefinders don’t have good lowlight glass, even though you can see the deer clearly with your eyes...

161"Booner, I know what you meant.
My two comments above were sarcastic...

I've never gotten a stimulus check. I guess according to the f#*=!ng government I don't count ?

I'd probably say stuff to keep you in the tree longer like warmer clothing, heater body suit, warmer boots etc. I know once my feet get cold it's hard to not climb down

Anything that will make you warmer and more comfortable to keep you in the tree longer. If you aren’t there you are not gonna have the chance for that 1 opportunity to capitalize on.

The biggest thing is boots to ground. Get to know the area you are hunting well before the season starts. Hunt hot sign!

Haha yes I use a hickory creek mini xbow during bow and I’ve got a muzzleloader and rifle too. Thing is; I’ve GOT to use this $ or it will get engulfed for other life purposes! Gun to your head- you must buy a piece of gear to help you kill an extra deer. What would it be?

Trail cameras or gear that allows you to be in the woods further and longer. For the later, that would be something like lightening your setup or warmth/comfort. I did both last year by buying down pants, down vest, down jacket, and waterproof compression sack for all the 3 pieces. I can pack all 3 pieces down to where it easily fits inside my 32 liter pack with my other gear (3 pieces pack down a little bigger than a football and allow me to walk in sweat free and then sit all day in warmth). If I didn't have ultralight hikers and Arctic shield boot blankets, then I'd be getting them also. Having next to no weight on your feet is huge. It is like taking 10 lbs out of your pack.

i did pick up an IWOM this spring when it had a good sale going on, im pretty stoked to be able to stay out longer in the year. I have back pain when i start to get cold, so I think it should be a good investment.

What ultra light boots do you use?

I got these on sale for 100 bucks.

I've also have Salomon light hikers and they were nice also.

I tried to go to low tops, but I kept jamming my ankle bone into rocks and getting too much foot roll on step hills. So, I like a mid height that is waterproof and light. Most websites give the shoe's weight. There's a military study where they compared the effect of ounces on your feet to pounds on your back (as far as endurance effect). It was a huge effect (like 1 oz on the feet is 1 pound or more on the back).

That ounces to pounds study is super interesting! Like those danners too. I have old pronghorns and they are indestructible but heavy. I’ll check these out. Thx!
