What will you change/improve for next year?

Spurs. I made myself a DIY tree squeeze i need to test out.. I mainly use bolts but sometimes the stand location is off and spurs will make it easier to move locations during the season.
100% correct

Improvment of me not getting covid twice snd improved number of hunts. I had covid twice and was only able to hunt around 10 times.
the least amount of hunts in years.

I’ll be going into next season with 2 set ups versus mainly using the saddle like I did this year.

I will be making ZERO changes to my bow, sight, arrow set up, etc.. I like to tinker, but I got that dialed in last summer and it’s been working. As bad as I think I “need” to trade in lol.

1. OOAL Hush Stand paired with a RCH
2. Saddle (probably the new one from CGM when it’s out) and a Ridge Runner

A few things I’m changing:
1. Replacing mechanicals with prusiks and Prusik tenders. Less metal on metal and easy & cheap to replace.
2. Getting proficient with 2TC
3. Swapping my 24” Beast Sticks for the minis

I will probably sell my MR Safeguard as well and find a “simple” belay device. Any suggestions there?

Figure 8 and distel hitch. I would’ve said a schwebash but I won’t use them after watching the CGM tests.

I like to tinker but not too much. I think I found the system and set up I like I can’t see myself changing anytime soon

trailblazer75 watched some videos on the Figure 8. For ~$20 that seems like the way to go if I’m only using it to rappel down after a hunt. Someone just got a sweet deal on my MR, haha.

Thinking about trying ROS next season. I tried a version of it tonight with WE steps and loved how easy it is to set up and especially tear down and pack up. Never really gave ROS much of a chance before so I feel it’s time.

The two steps at the top next to each other worked pretty well but still trying to decide if I want to stick with that or buy a real ROS to use. Kind of leaning toward buying a set.

So far considering silent approach or Cranford ROS’s. Anyone have any recommendations for either of these or something else, feel free to share your thoughts.

I used 6 EWO Squirrel steps on an OCB some this season. Can’t beat the pack ability and weight. I enjoyed them. My only gripe with them is with adding/shedding layers, specifically bottoms.

You were shedding lower layers while on a ROS?

Usually I was putting my bibs on.

That’s amazing. I tried putting bibs on a few times while standing on the predator platform and it was tough. These past few years I would setup the tree and then climb down to put bibs on.

I don’t recommend it. It’s do able though.
I can’t seem to give into the fact that just because I’m warm when I get to the tree that I’ll be warm after I’m set up lol.

Do you have the hush stand already? If so, what are your thoughts?

1) Always have a gilli suit top on, and Turkey mouth call in when walking in for evening hunts. I have killed several does this way but got lazy last year and missed two separate opportunities.
2) switch back to wearing saddle during walk in vs. packing it. Grunt tube is handy for item 1 above. Fawn bleating with Turkey call can calm a deer down really quick and make them curious enough to walk right back to you.

Scout and get in better shape, specifically cardio. I really don't need much equipment. Even though I'll probably convince myself that I do ha.

I did order a revamped Windwalker stand. Going to try that for longer sits. Bow wise I'm pretty content. Got a crossbow last off-season. Think I'm content with my saddle setup for now with my Recon and EDP. Don't see myself making any more real big purchases for next season. Going to scout public spots and try to get access on private or possibly try to lease something if it's reasonable. Just need it to warm up a bit to practice with my setups.

Edit: But I do keep eyeballing the Wingman. Already have the Novix mini sticks so it would make for a light/quick setup.

I’ve had mine for a month so so now and have been able to put 10 or so sits on it.

I have been very impressed with it.

The seat looks very small, but with the way it’s designed, it sits a lot bigger than it is. It makes it easier to stand up and keep the seat out of the way without flipping it up if you don’t have time. It also locks in as a load shelf too.

The platform size is just right for me as a hang on or as a hybrid set up. I’ve been pairing it with a RCH.

It’s very light and the non-skid coating he puts on it does a great job. Being that it isn’t a machined metal stand, the metal on metal noise is much more dead than with a machined stand, similar to the noise of cast.

The micro leveling acme screw is an excellent idea. It’s dead silent and is literally micro adjustable.

I wasn’t crazy about it not having a batwing style bracket at first, but it sets to the tree and isn’t going anywhere. You can set it like a climbing stick and it’s solid. NO need to fiddle around with toe-hooking it.

Outside of my 10 or so actual sits, I’ve messed around with it on some pretty bad trees and have hung it with only 1 or 2 teeth on the tree and it wasn’t moving.

I don’t do videos, but have been thinking about doing one on this stand just because I don’t think it’s one people think of when they’re looking for a lightweight set up and for $100-200 less than some others, I think it’s worth it.
