What's Your Favorite Piece of Hunting Gear?

No bows or arrows, just something you take with you, every time you go and it's Your Favorite.

For me, it's a device called The Booger. I picked it up at the Ohio Deer & Turkey Expo, over 25 years ago, for $20. It's always in my gear bag and I never hunt without it. I've used it to retrieve a hat, single arrow, release, etc. Just tie it on my bow retrieval line, set it and drop it on the item, from about a foot over it. It'll grab hold, like a leg hold trap....but not as hard. :)

I have been wanting to get one those ever since I seen Greg Staggs do a video on it.

How do you use your drag? Around the neck or up through the bottom of the mouth and over the nose?
I left my rope long and if you want to get the head of a heavier critter up off the ground for an easier drag, just tie an overhand in it to shorten where you want.
I've dragged a lot of critters w/mine. Soo simple and yet soo useful. I never thought about up through the mouth but sounds simple enough. I always quarter on the spot but use it to drag carcass away.

Does I girth hitch the legs and the head together. Bucks around the burrs.
Next doe, try cutting a slit on the under side of the jaw up into the mouth. Run the rope loop up from the bottom, out the front of the mouth and over the nose. A buddy showed me this on a big a hog and other than the weight it was the easiest drag I ever remember.

I forgot to mention with the Limbuc saw, the "handle" end has an insert and the longer end has the threads which are the same thread pattern as an broadhead or any standard screw in tip. If you need to extend the saw further you can unscrew a broadhead, screw the 30" (roughly) shaft onto another arrow and extend the saw even further if needed. Pretty handy item.

To Be honest.
I love my platform and sticks setup.
beast mini’s or doubles with the fix platform is hard to beat. The dread of carrying 25 plus lbs with a bad back and buldging belly lol was cut in 1/2 by using this method.
im at give or take 13 lbs with 3sticks, platform, and kneepads. All secured in snd on my xop striker pack withbare necessities inside.
it will take a hell of a setup changer for me to change from this

AGC bino pac and Kleen Kanteen travel mug are with me every hunt, regardless of season or method of tacke.

My N-Frame Smith has been my constant companion in the woods but this year I swapped it for a lightweight J-frame. And I got skunked. I've joked about that old hogleg being a lucky charm; maybe I shouldn't have been so cavalier about swapping it for a lighter pistol...

I posted a link. The Booger is still being made and is available. Well worth every penny that I paid.

I’m posting 2 things because my favorite one doesn’t come on every hunt.
#1. My scentlok heated vest with giant Duracell batterie pack. Before this vest sometimes I couldn’t pull my bow because my muscles got too cold.
#2. Comes every hunt is my Sitka tool belt. Carries my one stick, gut kit, TP, clothes, lunch, ROS, gloves, bow hanger, and more.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to have one in backpack next season.

what Do you carry w the bandit? What’s your setup?
Extra clothes, kill kit, communications, water, etc. As for setup, If I'm carrying the Pacseat, I simply clip to the Pacseat. As for the saddle, I didn't get this until the end of the year and haven't carried saddle set up with it yet.

But the micro molle row (if that's what you call it) at the bottom appears to be more than capable of attaching sticks to. I use the Hawk Helium HSP platform, so that can be carried with the sticks. I wear my saddle in, so the only other thing I need to carry are the stick mod ropes. The pack has more than enough room for that.

I love this pack! For me it was between the Kifaru e&e and the bandit. The Bandit has organization without being over the top. Whereas Kifaru wanted to charge crazy money for storage pouches.

Early season…. Carbomask face paint

Cold weather…. Sitka incinerator hand muff
