What's your other hobbies?

I shoot a few IHMSA matches and now that my reloading bench is sort of back up and going again there'll be more range time this year. I used to fly fish a lot and did some tournament casting but not too much these days. During the week I lead a couple church groups, divorce support and single parenting.

After our extended archery season ends January 31 I take a few weeks off. Organize and pack up all of my hunting gear. Then I break out the bass fishing gear and exude dominion over my fishing buddies until deer season starts again.

Bow tuning and shoot, shoot, shoot. Turkey hunting will be next. This summer is finishing out our basement. We just built a house but left the basement for me to finish out (20x24 living room, (2) 12 x 12 bedrooms, a bathroom and a 12x14 archery/hunting room. I will be setting up the archery/hunting room and then building target range in back with a 4x4 target so I can continue my main hobby which is anything archery.

Hiking (scouting),camping, small game and turkey hunt, fishin fresh & salted waters, working on chopper, hotrod .House projects. I'm an artist and make all kind of stuff , draw paint, metalsmith, leatherwork on rainy days . Anything that is doing something so I'm not doing nothing .

IMG_1571.jpgBrazilian Jiu Jitsu, and used to do Muay Thai, need to get back at it before I am too old. I like to lift weights to be strong, but not competitively. I may try powerlifting competitively at some point. Honestly, I spend my time now doing math, I am an engineering student.
I am looking to start hunting other species the rest of the year in addition to whitetails.

My problem is that I have WAY TOO MANY

Others including new and older that I may not do all the time

Biggest... tournament bass fishing, been fishing bass nation the last two years. Have been to Potomac River, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Erie, Pymatuning, St Lawrence River, Wallenpaupack, Raystown, Susquehanna, Juniata rivers in the last few years consistently.

Fly fishing, I was a guide for awhile, I only do this with friends these days

Camping/Backpacking... Im jumping into the hammock arena with this right now.

Kayak hunting/fishing.... lots of places I cant take my big boat to fish or hunt

Back into weight training (to hunt and fish harder) 4 days a week on average. Do some gardening, home remodeling at times.

I also airbrush, tie jigs, tie flies, powder coat jig heads, doing video these days too....

My entire life basically revolves around family, hunting and fishing

When I'm not hunting im getting ready to hunt. My off-season consists of selling hunting gear I bought last year that I didn't use and buying new hunting gear I probably won't use. Scouting for next season until greenup. Little bit of turkey hunting if I can fit it in. Spending time with the family stocking up brownie points until October

You're truely a man who understands his world and how he fits in it. Amen brother!;)

Home ownership, right? A time consuming hobby in itself I've spent the past two months attacking the honey-do list. It's like frickin whack-a-mole, as soon as you fix something another project pops up. Truthfully I hate the diy handyman gig, but I can't/won't pay someone to do it for me and ya gotta keep the better half happy and keep the nest maintained. Spiffed up the laundry room and put in a new kitchen floor in so far this winter. Gotta finish some touches in the kitchen, redo the trim, try to spruce up the cabinets to keep her happy with them for ten more years, yada yada. Next on the list I have to seal my decks and walkways, of which I have a crap ton. Then refurbish my shed that is falling apart. Then I'd like to put in a garden. Not to mention the routine maintenance.

I love to cook and that probably takes up the most time free time besides hunting and house stuff. BBQ and grilling obviously reign supreme, but anything that doesn't involve measuring (i.e. baking). I leave that up to the ladies. Consequentially I also like to eat and drink beer which means I need to start exercising again, something I've rarely done since my daughter was borned two summers back.

I still play a little beisbol in an old man's league. I used to be pretty deep into golf but I only get out a few times a year anymore.

Fishing, I have a boat and make it out to fish for Erie walleyes a few times a year. I dabble in some local stuff too but none of the puddles around here hold a candle to the great lakes.

I have a lot of dormant hobbies that I've dropped along the way. I really enjoyed brewing for a stretch but it's just too time consuming and I had to drop it. Same with bows, tried making a couple selfbows but I just couldn't find the time to continue. Hard for me to dabble in that kinda stuff, when I jump into something I want to reach expert level as fast as possible. I kinda go a little nuts when I get into something. My wife always tells me what a good retiree I'll be.

Haha. Replace "kitchen floor" with bathroom floor, "beisbol" with basketball, "Erie Walleyes" with Lake Anna Stripers and then add three kids and coaching youth sports to that list and you just described my life to a T.

Hard water angling January through March (mostly for pike & panfish to eat).

April is mud season... should be using it to scout more.

May is sort of turkey hunting (0 for 6 so far)...if I hear any birds the first time or two.

June-July is bass fishing & bbq season.

August is pool & margarita season.

September is back to school and hunting anticipation season.

October is the most wonderful time of the year.

November is freeze your butt off while you watch trees grow and orange clad humans go for a nature walk with a gun season.

December is really freeze your ass off while you desperately try to avoid tag soup season.

This guy HAS to be from Michigan LMAO!

Mine is ice fish as much as humanly possible, play in my 30+ hockey league, work out with my wife, watch Michigan State basketball, some Red Wings if they get their heads on straight, think about scouting once the snow melts, dream about deer hunting.

September I am scouting for deer and making last fishing trips of the year, normally make a dove hunt or two
Oct/Nov - bow hunting (mostly with compound), Rutcation out of state, Squirrel hunting at home with family. I normally make 4 squirrel
hunts a year. My parents and other extended family love to eat squirrels. My dad takes off a week a year to hunt them in October. In 4 hunts I normally get 36 squirrels to supplement my dads freezer.
Dec/Jan - gun/bow hunting, Rut at home in Louisiana, occasionally make a duck/goose hunt.
Jan/Feb - Bow hunting (Feb mostly bow hunting with trad archery), making smoked sausage and tasso
Feb - Rabbit hunting with beagles, squirrel hunting with feists.
Feb/March - Sacalait (crappie) fishing/ turkey scouting
March/May - Turkey hunting (#1 passion)
May/September - Mostly Saltwater fishing for trout, reds and flounder. Spearfish for snapper and cobia when can get offshore.
Frog gigging anytime the weather is good and the season is open. Working on my boat could be a full time job but normally I rush to do that between tagging turkeys..... then throughout the summer struggle to keep her running...

I love to fish. Ice fishing would be my top method at the current moment, but I am saving my pennies for a bass boat. Outside of hunting and fishing, I follow sports religiously and am currently dabbling in some distance running.

My new hobbie this year is retirement lol. Most of the time I am remodeling the house. Just finished the kitchen. Now ready for work on the outside. Inshore fishing with my son. Look mLikes I will be spending time getting comfortable hanging from a saddle as well as getting certified to be a able the bow hunt some gated communities around here. Also love archery and have started making knives. Woodworking and drinking coffee lol

Congratulations! Sounds like a great new hobby. I'm closing in on it and feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. As I tell the guys at work, "How long? Somewhere between five minutes and 5 years.":grimacing:

Ive really taken to blacksmithing in my free time outside of deer season. And when its to cold to be outside smithing i try to ice fish when i can. Deer hunting has always been and will always be my number 1 passion though
