while saddle hunting....

I started off with the HME bow hanger and strap and when I used a climber it was worth the hassle (i.e. heavy, loud, not easy to store, etc) to have something that I could adjust to be be within arms reach. I have tried the hero clip and love using them to hold my bag and some miscellaneous gear (binos when I don't have my bino harness or calls or rattles) but just don't care to hang my bow from one because if you leave the quiver on like I do you are raking your arrows against the tree if you are storing it on the grip arm side. I do use the HYS strap and love that thing for versatility hanger so I came across this and have weaved the HYS strap through the strap holes for the approximate tree size that I hunt. Love it so far. I have found my tree sizes are usually very consistent or enough that I can factor them out using hys strap quick tension adjustment it goes on fast, packs easier and holds my bow away from the tree so I can leave my quiver on. Just like to leave the quiver on for a go to follow up shot, second deer opportunity or the most likely reason that I missed completely on the first:grinning:

I have also seen some pictures on here where some guys are using a plastic fold down tree step looking thing that has a quick connect groove built in, that might be even more packable and lighter. I think I am going to stick with this for a while and try to stop spending so much $$$ on the highest quality meat that man has ever known :)

I can take pictures of my setup if anyone is really that interested.

I plan to use that solution.

That is what I use and it works wonders!

This is a possibility. I was thinking of getting one myself.

I've used this ratchet strap, not a fan of the ratchet noise when tightening, but you can make it as tight as desired.
I've been using this for a few years now and have never worried about my bow getting knocked off: https://www.hmeproducts.com/accessory-hook-belt-blister/

Modified Hawk Hanger with S-Biner

I just ran paracord through that hole on the hawk hanger (used pliers to turn the hole 90 degrees so it parallels the tree). Saves needing an s-biner. I use Paracord with the hanger and a few loop knots, and a nite ize camjam.

I reuse the original rubber coated wire from the hanger on my one-stick tether like a stopper knot, ala DIY Sportsman.

There’s another thread on here, guys making their own hooks and hangers from pvc pipe.
I tried making some and may use them this season.

I tried the Hero Clip, but had trouble no-look lifting my bow off of it while watching deer. Finally settled on this:

You pretty much have to remove your quiver to use the HME hooks since they do not stick out very far. Not an issue for me though...

I agree with @Colek83 I have the same one (make sure its the strap on for public lands) and mine is rock solid. If you hold the pins back on the ratchet and quietly drop them once you make a revolution, it will be quiet. I have tested it on multiple trees, a lauly-column. PVC pipe (4" dia.), metal pipe and a 4x4 post and had zero problems.

THE FIDDLE FACTOR
on the other hand can be a P.I.T.A. I'm still in the air with what I will run this year. My reason for saying yes was the fact that I ran a 1/4"-20 camera mount through mine to hook my GoPro to for the self-filmed footage of myself. Also, the lower hooks can hold all my gear.

They can be good and bad like anything. For the price, try it and see what works for you!

Is that commercially available? If so what is it called? Thanks.
Sure here is the link for the hanger

The strap is the Tetherd HYS Strap - I like the HYS strap because it has that cinch webbing and buckle which allows me to hook up quick and get it real tight.

Hope this helps!

Hawk hookster with paracord.

I have never been able to stomach $20 for a hero clip so I DIYd something like this. I had the rubber wire and a screw in hook for hanging stuff in your basement so I cut a small piece of wood and screwed the hook into the wood and then I drilled a hole In the wood to feed the wire thru. Cost me nothing bc I had all that stuff lying around.
